Hyper-independence is a trauma response as a result of having unreliable parents or caregivers who were dependent upon you. You develop a me vs them mentality or, every man for himself. This can make you take on things alone more then you should and refuse help/support.
We talk about how codependency is so unhealthy in relationships but nobody speaks on hyper-independence, which is the complete opposite. Some people do not have the capacity to be interdependent with another person which can cause relationships to suffer.
Idk who needs to hear this, but don’t be afraid to ask questions about anything that involves you. Whether it’s about your money, job, a relationship, a friendship etc. if you’re confused about something and it’s affecting you, speak up and ask for clarity.
