The Good pharmacy practice guidelines are not meant to sideline any profession!
They were drafted for purposes of patient safety.
As professionals in pharmacy(whether pharm techs or pharmacists), we understand that professional responsibilities must be defined by academic qualifications and not politics. To the colleague pharm techs, if you want the superintendent role kindly upgrade(yaani in short nasema msome😁)!
The tyranny of numbers does not confer professional responsibilities upon you. That's stooping too low.
Your scope of study cannot allow you to do that!
Patient safety must come first.

GPP is not a weapon against colleagues. It is a shield for the patient. The 2026 PPB Good Pharmacy Practice Standards are drawing lines where lines are long overdue
As young practitioners, our loyalty belongs to the standard of care, not the shortcuts of yesterday.

CAP. 245 recognises the lawful sale or supply of narcotic and psychotropic substances by a REGISTERED PHARMACIST. SECTION 2 DEFINITION OF “TRAFFICKING”. The KPA framing is disingenuous because it omits the Act’s express statutory controls.

Kenyans have a right to the highest attainable standards of health! Differentiation of roles and responsibilities based on qualifications & competencies guarantee that right!
The Standards do not bar any category of pharmacy professionals (diploma or degree) from practising or working at any level of the health system. Highest attainable standard of health is non negotiable!!

Clear differentiation of roles protects patients. Qualifications, training and competencies are not interchangeable, and every professional must be held accountable within their scope.

“As services become more specialised and the risks to patients increase, the qualifications and competencies of the person bearing overall responsibility (the superintendent) must increase accordingly.” - @HonAdenDuale.
