russia has sentenced 20-year-old Viktoriia Maksymenko from occupied Mariupol to 13 years in a penal colony on charges of "high treason."

She was just a child when russia occupied her city. In November 2025, russian forces detained her. In the video released by russian authorities, she appears terrified, clearly repeating words under pressure.

She was accused of allegedly passing information about russian National Guard positions in occupied Mariupol to Ukraine's military intelligence.

This is yet another sham trial targeting civilians trapped under occupation.

To the occupiers, loyalty to Ukraine is a crime. To the rest of the world, it should be clear: russian occupation is built on fear, repression, and political persecution.
