@clairezagorski Agreed, I’ve lived in the DFW area most of my life and never thought about how crazy this is. Just a little background to help: https://t.co/P2F8n4v3MY
@PhDLitt I don’t know, I have a 13 year old and “not my jam” is just as antiquated as “my bad”- I am trying to bring back “the bees knees” but having little success
Just to be clear- I am not suggesting that we should downplay the major impact this wave is having on health and society but we do have the tools to reduce transmission- let’s use them please beginning with vaccination.
Transmissibility is determined by 1) pathogen properties 2) contagiousness of infected 3) susceptibility of exposed 4) contact patterns between infected & susceptible and 5) environment of transmission- let’s not give Omicron so much credit https://t.co/N109oy9n1O
I get a lot of questions about why Omicron is so transmissible and it’s definitely a combination of factors and we can make an impact with layered prevention. This will remain the same throughout this pandemic.
@sarahevictor I’m so sorry, that does suck. Well I have ulcerative colitis that was under control until I got pregnant- so I was running to the bathroom to throw up and poop blood for months- you name it, I missed it! Hang in there!!
Diana Cervantes (@Dr_Microbe), @UNTPublicHealth assistant professor and director, shared why a person-centered approach is the most effective way to prevent the spread of disease. #TEDxUNT
Americans Are Losing Sight of the Pandemic Endgame - The Atlantic Very well written and required reading @drlucymcbride @celinegounder https://t.co/etsmieo5iK
Do all SARS CoV-2 variants represent different strains? No per @profvrr but @CDCgov says yes? There’s no universal standard for these definitions but the designation of strain should indicate a major, stable change- so still one SARS-CoV-2 strain

Science tells us that most Americans do not need a COVID-19 vaccine booster (1/3)
1. With time, vaccine-induced antibodies wane but the same happens with all vaccines and infections.
3. Results of studies have shown that despite waning antibody levels, most fully vaccinated people are protected against severe disease, hospitalization, and death.
What we need to do is get everyone fully vaccinated! (3/3)
@Laurie_Garrett Agreed @Laurie_Garrett but having worked in PH practice for many years, don’t you think the data is being analyzed and used daily by PH but not reported out? So this doesn’t affect local prevention and control efforts right? BTW, The Coming Plague is the reason I became an Epi!!
@DanielGriffinMD Well CDC does have a pretty decent dashboard on NF info- it’s surveillance data but it’s a great improvement on what we had previous to the pandemic on NF HAIs https://t.co/h1O3JxxwoF
