Section 69 has to be the most absurd law across the universe. A woman can cry false promise of marriage and make a man accused of a heinous sexual offence when that man has not even touched her. No proof needed. No questions by police. No questions by law. FIR registered and a man branded as sex offender. His family immediately tortured and harrassed unless they fill the pockets of police.

Ever heard of a strong and independent man? No. Parents always teach sons to be strong and responsible.

The same parents teach their daughters to be strong and independent.

The real reason for promoting girl child education was not to push all girls into jobs. The real reason was that, if girls are educated, and something happens to the husband, she won't be left destitute. She can earn owing to her education and take care of kids.

Education and having a career never meant that girls should be discouraged from learning household work, and encouraged only to study and do a job. Doing a job was supposed to be a voluntary activity. But, somehow the society has been conditioned to think that a corporate job is the only logical step after education, otherwise education is wasted.

Today, in most of the urban areas, I see a reverse trend. Most of the guys are good in household work - cooking & chores, whereas several women can't cook beyond a cup of coffee, and a bowl of maggi.

So, I would say, on an average, men have stepped up by learning additional skills, and women have stepped down by changing one skill with another. And even with the money earning skill, many of these women don't contribute in running the househould, but rather they are independent (spend on their personal expenses).

Just now got a call from a friend who has a matrimonial dispute in court.

The wife has filed the entire package of cases she has against the husband.

For several months, she was crying about fast-tracking these cases.

Now the cross-examination time came.

And suddenly, she started denying.

As soon as the questions from the husband’s advocate started, the wife started denying the very lines she had written in her own pleadings/documents.

She was even saying:

“I don’t know what documents are filed. They were filed by my advocate, not me. I have no knowledge.”

The judge, as usual, appeared more concerned about protecting her and said:

“Why are you asking her about the details of the documents?”

The husband’s advocate replied:

“Then those documents can be rejected outright, because she herself is claiming that she doesn’t know about them.”

The wife started crying.

Her advocate tried to save her.

And then came another alternate route they always use:

“We have to compromise.”

Her advocate said it.

Judge: “Yes, then?”

Husband’s advocate:

“I have been hired for cross-examination. Let me complete the cross-examination first. Then we can see the other things later.”

Judge:

“No, no… wait.”

And that was it.

Next week, let’s see what happens. 😏
