Wind and solar now supply 40% of Britain's electricity demand.
What a remarkable change has been made over the last decade! That puts us ahead of most major world economies.

A battery beside a wind or solar farm can be worth less than the same battery on its own. Our new paper in @RoySocChem EES journal maps where hybrid storage adds value, and where it does not.

There is no single “correct” path to decarbonise.
There are six trillion.
Our new paper in Science puts 36 climate solutions into one common unit, so you can build your own pathways.

We are all used to stories of the UK in decline… Electricity is no exception: demand has fallen for 20 years as we outsource industry.
But Britain has turned a corner: demand up two years in a row. AI data centres now consume more power than Birmingham and could 4x by 2030.
Dirty or damaged solar panels waste vast amounts of clean power.
Introducing SolarSynthNet: a deep learning model that spots cracks, dust & snow. It's the new state-of-the-art with 97%+ detection accuracy and is built for real-world farms.

Global hydrogen demand has grown 𝟯𝘅 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿than experts predicted.
For 50 years, analysts projected rapid uptake (6-15% pa.). Instead hydrogen tracks global GDP @ ~3% pa.
Will hydrogen finally take off - or are we still being too optimistic?

Hydrogen cars are being outsold by Ferraris worldwide.
This blog, originally posted on Carbon Brief, draws on new research that reveals why hydrogen hype has stalled in many areas, and where it could potentially shine.

Can the UK lead the G7 on clean power?
The UK will become the leading low carbon nation in the G7 if it delivers its clean power mission by 2030.
Analysis by academics from @ImperialCollege suggests that the UK can overtake current leaders Canada and France to have the highest share of low carbon electricity by the end of this decade.
The team of researchers developed a ‘Clean Electricity Scorecard’ that looks at metrics such as emissions intensity and the share of low carbon generation.

Lots of debate about what ‘clean power’ means, but how does the ambition of the UK’s Clean Power Mission compare against its peers?
Well, if delivered it would lead the G7 🇬🇧⚡️
