1/2 #HorizonDragonfly @DragonflyUnit Planned RSHE day lesson focused on the history of @BBCCiN and the local charities they support. Students selected or made up their own charity that they would want to see the money raised this year spent on.

Young people planned for all practicalities including safety and costing and the dragons were very impressed!

At the start of the month our young people were given a challenge to come up with an idea which would encourage the use of DBT skills independently. They then pitched their ideas to three of our very own Dragons! Including a special guest appearance @NSFTtweets @HorizonSchool5

The other brilliant idea was to have MP3 players available to all young people on the ward. The MP3 players would hold relaxation music, progressive relaxant techniques and other mindfulness recordings that can be listened to as and when needed.

These could be things such as sensory toys, cards to indicate they need support and a suggestion box. This will encourage young people to practice DBT skills without having to ask staff or seek for help vocally.

One group of young people came up with the great idea of having a ‘DBT tree’ in the lounge, which would display different ideas and objects that they could use to support DBT skills.
