Now that the draft order is set it's time for my official mock draft for season 3. With such a huge class I added my thoughts on the fit of each mocked pick of the first round.
Seeing a lot of disrespect being thrown towards Iowa and their coach. I know I usually stay out of the college stuff unless it pertains to draft info but seems like anyone can call themselves an "analyst" now days.
On that note, look out for a mock draft later this week!
ACC seeding talk:
Miami have locked up the number 1 seed but further down is still interesting.
Duke are most likely locked in first place but if they were to lose to UNC by 12 or more and Sryacuse were to beat Miami there'd be a 3 way tie for 2nd and UNC would go through on PD
UNC will most likely finish 3rd unless the above scenario happens. They'd need a big loss and either a Cuse win or UVA huge win to drop down.
Cuse most likely 4th as they hold h2h over UVA.
UVA v Louisville decides the 5th and 6th seeds.
Meanwhile further down OKST(6) and Baylor(5) are locked in. TTU however could rise to 3rd with a win over Texas, which would drop Texas to 4th.
Prediction - Kansas win and TTU upset Texas:
1 - WVU
2 - Kansas
3 - TTU
4 - Texas
5 - Baylor
6 - OKST
Big 12 seeding:
WVU move to 4-1 with today's win over Baylor. Meaning tomorrow's Kansas v OKST and Thursday's Texas v TTU clashes have huge impact.
If both Texas and Kansas win we have a 3 way tie at the top with Kansas having a hefty PD advantage.
Let's talk seeding!
Starting off I'm the Big East as this one has a few moving parts.
As it stands Marquette are in pole position but they do want a win against Providence to keep things simple.
Should the Friars win they'd both move to 4-1 with Providence having the h2h.
Marquette v Providence is the key clash here and is an interesting one. Marquette remain undefeated but Emmanuel Blackman poses an interesting problem for their small ball lineup.
Prediction - Providence win, but so do Georgetown and Marquette take the 1 seed on PD.
Looks near enough to me.
Always hard to know how much weight to put on preseason wins or losses, I will say Marquette, Louisville and ASU impressed me more than this rankings shows.
@JS4478048631 A number of front office execs have lead me to believe the baggage that comes with Lake may outweigh the talent currently.
I could see him slipping as low as late 2nd round as pro teams are less likely to overlook his character than colleges are.
Reports from inside the Memphis Grizzlies organization that they have recently cooled their interest on drafting PG Gus Lake. Citing medical concerns around a previously undiagnosed knee injury along with character concerns after his bust up with ex syracuse teamate Dick Dickey.
Reports from sources inside the league that a blockbuster deal has been agreed between the Mavericks and the Cavaliers.
Both teams were left disappointed last year and were stuck between competing and rebuilding, this trade should clear that up on both sides.
Over the next few days I will be publishing my preliminary S5 CSBA draft board. I'll be ranking players by positional rank and overall tiers. As the draft order is not yet set these rankings are purely my perception on their talent. Attached is the explanation of these tiers.
I could see Mateo Cauthen being a potential #3 pick in the upcoming draft. Obviously Mike Coco is the favorite at #1 but depending on who is picking up there Cauthen could go very early!
I've long since informed my teammates & coaching staff, but this will be my final year playing college ball. It's been an intense season for me personally, with nearly every game bringing a new perspective on life & basketball. Entering week 7, one thing has become crystal clear,
Two great performances from bigmen last night as Money Mills had a 15 rebound double-double as the Zags beat out the Beavers and Jay Mack put up an early player of the week contending 25 & 10 to help his Razorbacks move past the Gators.
@CSBABasketball@BeyondTheCSBA
We also saw the steals record equalled for the second time in as many weeks as Ling Yao commited 5 robberies after Mojo Rizing hit the same number last week equalling the record set by Xavier Reed III back in Season 1.
Great first day of week 5 for @CSBABasketball yesterday, which saw MSU and Miami pick up big wins over Purdue and Clemson.
But LSU's was the most impactful. Their 80-62 win over a dangerous Alabama side showed their early season form wasn't just a product of easier matchups.
