You either grow into a stronger, pain-free version of yourself—or you keep repeating the same six months of “rest and ice” over and over. The difference is how fast you’re willing to address what’s actually causing the pain, instead of avoiding it.
The longer I am in practice, the more I realize only 3 things matter when treating patients in pain to life-changing results:
1) A relationship of mutual trust
2) A logical plan rooted in education
3) An accurate diagnosis
And they are in that order.
Hot take: the healthiest people in their 30s and beyond are not the most disciplined.
The healthiest people genuinely ENJOY exercising, eating whole foods, and getting quality sleep.
Discipline starts the journey. Joy makes it transformative.
The difference between anxiety and excitement is simply a lens of either negative or positive emotion. When we choose to reframe our anxiety as excitement, it loses its control over us and instead can be used as motivation to take action.
Americans are obsessed with protein. They eat about 2x as much of it as the federal government advises, and 60% of US adults are trying to get even more of it into their diets.
Excessive protein consumption could be making us sick. It's also wrecking the planet.

More than likely, you struggle in one ore more of these areas. And that’s ok.
Ignoring them is not.

Healthy human movement consists of 6 pillars:
1) Mobility
2) Stability
3) Balance
4) Strength
5) Aerobic Capacity
6) Anaerobic Capacity
Each one is a player on the team. All are important, but they play different roles.
Let’s define them.

And finally…
6) Anaerobic Capacity: Your ability to do something really hard over the span of a few seconds.
Think like running from an angry raccoon.
Hopefully it won’t chase you too long, but you gotta be quick to get away.
There are only 2 reasons you get injured in the gym:
-Too much volume with insufficient recovery
-Too much load with insufficient movement requisites
If the fitness community at large could get these ratios right, I think we would drastically see lower injury rates.
It’s human nature to look opportunities in the eye and run the other direction.
We’d rather suffer in safety than grow in uncertainty.
We prefer the status quo to progress.
Until you hate the problem more than you hate the solution, things will never change.
More time being around and healthy for your kids.
More time for traveling.
More time for independence.
More time spent not having to go to doctor appointments.
More time on this earth.
The irony of not having “time” for your health now is that at some point you’re going to have to pay back all that time you “saved.”
Investing time in your health now is the ONLY thing that actually will return more time to you later.
