Earlier today, I had the honour of officially introducing Hon. David Musila as the newly appointed Chairperson of the National Industrial Training Board @nita_kenya during a Board meeting that marks the beginning of a new chapter for National Industrial Training Authority.

Hon. Musila brings with him a wealth of experience in public service and leadership, qualities that will be instrumental in strengthening NITA’s governance and advancing its mandate of equipping Kenyans with industry-relevant skills that enhance productivity, create employment opportunities and drive our country’s economic transformation.

As we continue implementing reforms aimed at building a highly skilled and globally competitive workforce, strong leadership remains critical in ensuring that NITA delivers on its mission of promoting the highest standards of industrial training and skills development.

I was pleased to receive a courtesy call from the Ambassador of @JoEmbassyKenya to Kenya H.E. Rulan Samara for discussions on enhancing labour cooperation between our two countries.

Our discussions focused on expanding employment opportunities for Kenyans in the agriculture, hospitality and domestic work sectors, while strengthening labour agreements to promote safe, fair and well-regulated labour migration.

We also explored opportunities for skills development in high-demand fields such as Information Technology (IT), engineering and cybersecurity to better prepare Kenyans for the global job market.

I was joined by the Labour Commissioner, Ms. Hellen Apiyo, the Secretary for Labour Migration, Mr. Joel Mwanzia, and the Assistant Director for Labour Migration, Ms. Alice Chonga. We remain committed to creating more overseas employment opportunities while safeguarding the welfare of Kenyan workers.

I had the pleasure of receiving a courtesy call from the @KSAembassyKE Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Saad bin Abdullah Alnofaia, at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.

Our discussions built on the productive engagements we held during my recent visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, focusing on strengthening labour cooperation and expanding opportunities for Kenyan workers.

I expressed my appreciation to the Government of Saudi Arabia for the progress made in advancing the labour mobility programme and acknowledged the continued demand for Kenyan talent in the Saudi labour market. We also explored avenues for enhancing skilled labour mobility, recognizing the importance of aligning our workforce with emerging opportunities.

Kenya remains committed to deepening its partnership with Saudi Arabia through continued dialogue and future bilateral engagements that will promote safe, orderly and mutually beneficial labour migration.

Additionally, we agreed on the importance of strengthening labour cooperation by developing clear labour guidelines for employers and employees in Chinese-owned enterprises operating in Kenya. These measures will help improve working conditions, safeguard workers’ rights, promote fair labour practices and foster a conducive business environment that delivers shared prosperity for both Kenya and China.

This morning, I had the pleasure of receiving the @ChineseEmbKenya to Kenya @AmbGuoHaiyan, who paid me a courtesy call. I was joined by the Labour Commissioner, Ms. Hellen Opiyo, and the Secretary for Labour Migration, Mr. Joel Mwanzia, as we held fruitful discussions on the continued growth of Kenya - China relations, particularly in the areas of labour, trade and investment, while exploring new opportunities to deepen Chinese investments in Kenya and expand collaboration across key economic sectors.

Our discussions also focused on creating more employment opportunities for Kenyans in sectors such as hospitality, Export Processing Zones (EPZs), manufacturing and aerospace. We further explored emerging areas of collaboration, including electric mobility and locomotive manufacturing, with an emphasis on attracting investments that will establish local manufacturing facilities, facilitate technology transfer and create sustainable employment opportunities.

As a long-standing friend of the people of Qatar and in my capacity as Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, I joined millions around the world in mourning the loss of a visionary statesman whose leadership transformed Qatar into a global model of progress, prosperity and international diplomacy.

During my visit, I signed the condolence book and expressed my deepest sympathies to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Royal Family, the Government and the people of Qatar during this difficult period of mourning.

Kenya and Qatar enjoy warm and mutually beneficial relations, particularly in the areas of labour mobility, investment, trade and people to people exchanges. Over the years, Qatar has become an important partner in creating employment opportunities for Kenyan workers, strengthening the bonds of friendship between our two nations.

May Almighty Allah grant the late Father Amir eternal peace and reward him abundantly for his service to his nation and humanity. May He also grant comfort, strength and fortitude to the people of Qatar as they mourn this great loss.

Today, I had the honour of presiding over Kenya’s World Youth Skills Day 2026 celebrations at the @KICC_kenya, where we reaffirmed our commitment to empowering young people with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Under the leadership of H.E. President Dr. @WilliamsRuto, the Government continues to invest in skills development, job creation, digital opportunities, and labour market reforms to ensure that our youth are equipped to compete and thrive both locally and globally.

I was pleased to be joined by @PSMwadime, Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development; H.E. @Diplo_Jazz, Ambassador @KenyaembassyGER; Ms. @jacquelinemugo, Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Kenya Employers (@FKEKenya); Dr. @ConilleGarry, @UnKenya Resident Coordinator, representatives from development partners, the private sector, employers’ organizations, workers’ unions, and youth groups from across the country, whose partnership continues to strengthen Kenya’s journey towards a skilled and productive workforce.
