@HelenPParker @HCH_NZ@HCHcollab Totally agree @HelenPParker 2 of my patients were mothers with young families. Often challenging to get out for appointments at that stage of life. Then another at work so saved him time out of the office. Feels good to be offering flexibility in how we deliver our care.
I did my first telephone triage/consults yesterday - part of our Healthcare Home journey. Just experimenting with times & spaces. Patients seemed to love it. All 4 avoided having to come in. Simple issues, well safety netted & helped take pressure off the day. @HCH_NZ@HCHcollab
Iβm trying to express appreciation more but to make it timely and specific to a particular encounter/ event. I believe it has more impact when itβs personalised rather than just generic.
So we are 2 weeks into our Healthcare Home journey and , of course, my favourite part so far is the daily staff huddle - GPs, nurses and admin. A wonderful way for us all to connect and start the day as a team. Simple but so effective! @HCH_NZ@HCHcollab @pinmhnmd
Singing is a great way to bring people together. Iβve had the joy of belonging to the Vocal Chords for about 4 years. Made up of healthcare workers of all flavours. Here we are doing our Christmas hospital walk around.
@jocole76 @grimwade_kate@drjoevb@heidi_ed@EmmaGreenNZ@sarahdaveybop@sarahAHPRehab Iβm sorry I missed your hug! And that I didnβt do a @jocole76! Iβm a bit hopeless on Twitter! Yes next yearβs event will be bigger and better for sure. Lots to look forward to. π Happy Christmas! ππ πΌ
Last week I hosted the inaugural BOP Clinician Appreciation Awards - one in Ohope and one in Tauranga. Such great evenings! A time of connection and collaboration. Mahi tahi. I loved that Primary care & Secondary care clinicians came together and acknowledged our shared purpose.
Today I walked 2 minutes down the road from where I work and sat here for a short while. In the middle of a crazy busy day. It was peaceful. The view was gorgeous. It recharged me. Simple things.
Why do we need to bring the joy? Because it is contagious. A smile of recognition and a "Hello, Bikash" to the orderly becomes a smile from orderly to radiographer to worried patient to stressed out relative to nurse to manager. We all make more ripples than we ever know.
