Today marks 21 years since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and its surrounding areas.
Marking this occasion, I had the honor of speaking at New Orleans Katrina Commemoration, Inc.’s 21st Annual Hurricane Katrina March and Second Line Event, dedicated to honoring our community’s legacy, but also calling us to action.
Thank you to President Quindella Fletcher and the Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated®, Upsilon Tau Omega Chapter for a wonderful Crab Feast! For over 20 years, Southern Prince George’s County Community Charities in conjunction with your chapter have poured into our community through scholarships, food, and service. Our joy is a form of resistance.
15 years ago today, it was announced that I would become the host of #PoliticsNation.

Thrilled to join New Hope Baptist Church for services yesterday! New Hope's contributions to our Broward neighbors cannot be understated.
Thank you to Pastor Scott, First Lady Scott and the congregation for always being so welcoming.
Principal Chief @ChuckHoskin_Jr presented the new @IHSgov Director Mark Cruz with a blanket in Washington, D.C., last week when they both participated in a panel discussion for the @HRSAgov’s Tribal Advisory Council.
No parent should have to take on debt just to get their kids ready for school.
My Back-to-School Supplies Affordability Act would get Trump’s tariffs off essential school supplies and bring costs down for families.
The Stellars came to North Carolina thanks in part to the NC Department of Commerce Major Events, Games, and Attractions Fund. Kudos to Charlotte for being the backdrop for the Greatest Night in Gospel Music.
Today, I joined my @HomelandDems colleagues at a hearing in Maine where we brought attention to yet another murder at the hands of ICE. Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was a father, a husband, work permit holder, and beloved community member. He was not the target of any ICE action, but was detained, dragged from his car, and killed in front of his 3-year-old daughter.
How many more lives will be lost before we say enough is enough?
Democrats will do everything in our power to hold this administration accountable for the dangerous, violent, and deadly immigration enforcement activities funded and backed by Trump and Republicans.
Honored to join the State Ministers of the The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, the delegation, and Head of #Gamo Zone Administration, and his team, on a visit to Western Abaya to support communities displaced by the landslides in March.
We delivered 12.5 million birr in assistance, mobilized largely through our embassies and the Diaspora communities.
My sincere appreciation goes to @MFAEthiopia for the leadership, to our missions, and the diaspora for their generous act of solidarity. During our visit, we committed to supporting the completion of 40 houses currently under construction for displaced families.
Today we honor LSU baseball legend Skip Bertman. 5 national championships. 11 College World Series appearances. And he transformed a program from empty bleachers to the loudest, proudest fanbase in the sport. Coach Bertman turned Alex Box Stadium into hallowed ground, and his fingerprints are on everything college baseball is today.
Beyond the wins, he shaped generations of players and coaches, and later helped build championship programs across LSU Athletics as AD. My prayers are with his loved ones as our community grieves this loss. Geaux Tigers forever, Coach. @LSU@LSUsports@LSUbaseball
Trump is planning to spend $268 billion on mass deportations while people go to bed hungry, families live without housing, and millions more lose healthcare. Every $2,000 he spends on deportation means less food in the mouths of folks in #LA02 and across the country.

2026 NABJ Convention Newsmaker Plenary with Attorney Ben Crump and the parents of Nolan Wells, Christine and Elmore Wonsley. We had an important conversation about justice, accountability, and the responsibility of the media to seek truth and amplify the voices of families fighting for answers.
