Statement from Dr. B.R. Shetty
I travelled to India in February to be with my ailing brother who sadly passed away at the end of March, just as the pandemic spread across the world disrupting international travel.
I intend to support the UAE authorities and all relevant bodies to correct any injustice done to the companies, their employees, shareholders and other stakeholders and help find solutions to outstanding matters.
The family's attention is firmly fixed on clearing Dr. B.R Shetty's name through all available legal avenues in the UAE and overseas and uncovering the elaborate and well-concealed fraud at NMC Health and other related companies perpetrated by a small group of former executives.
Public statement regarding documentary film
Dr. B.R. Shetty and his family did not participate in, and in no way supported, the documentary film about Dr. Shetty and NMC Health that first aired on 12 July, 2020 on Al Jazeera Arabic, and later Al Jazeera English.
The Shetty family rejects any attempt to politicise the investigation and will never collaborate with any party seeking to use this case to advance political agendas.
