BOOK GIVEAWAY! On 13 Feb 1997, nearly 5m bits of Lego fell into the ocean when a cargo ship was hit by a huge wave. To mark the occasion, we’re giving away 2 copies of our book Adrift, a voyage into the lingering legacy of a cargo spill. To enter, just like and retweet this post
Damaging M7.8 EQ hit southern Turkey near the Syrian border ~4am local time. PAGER is red for this event; extensive damage is probable. Our hearts go out to those affected. See @Kandilli_info for local info. https://t.co/dMyc6ZVrE1

@fiona_616 Congrats! I’m PT and went on mat leave half way through my NPQ and I’ve had to pause it just before assessment. Workload too high for PT (all meetings on my days off!) & totally inflexible when it comes to childcare issues (no option to join in remotely)
@davidErogers Sorry you’ve had bad news. Running (esp trails) is one of the ways I work through what has felt like a constant barrage of bad news over the last year and a bit. It really does help clear the mind (even if only temporarily)🏃♀️
@GeogMum I grew up in Truro! Lovely walk from Malpas to St Clements, although quite muddy at the moment I expect. Definitely a great place for bird spotting
@BethanStagg @BeaulieuBio @ChatEcology@alicemauchline @GeogSteel @FieldStudiesC Also…love the idea of canals fieldwork. Defo loads of human geog there (and history). Could tick all the cross discipline boxes there!
@BethanStagg @BeaulieuBio @ChatEcology@alicemauchline @GeogSteel @FieldStudiesC The Biology dept do an ecology day on the school site, but it’s not very popular (majority students want to be medical doctors 😭). I’ve been trying to push for joint bio & geog fieldwork so will have another go when I’m back off mat leave as I love it!
@BeaulieuBio @ChatEcology@alicemauchline@BethanStagg @GeogSteel Ecology fieldwork is almost non existent in our geog dept 😢 student interest typically leans towards human geog. Also costs mean short day trip fieldwork & big city = bias towards human. I’m trying to change it!
