So this lady is 29 years old and her wedding is already fixed for this December. But instead of being happy, she's confused and emotionally stressed.

According to her, she lost both her parents when she was just 15 years old. Life became very difficult for her. She had to drop out of school because there was nobody to pay her fees. Even her extended family couldn't help, so she completely gave up on her dream of becoming someone in life.

Then, when she was 18, she met one young man.

The guy wasn't rich. He sold fruits on the roadside just to survive, but despite his own struggles, he took it upon himself to sponsor her education. He worked tirelessly, paid her school fees, and later got a better job as a truck driver. With that job, he continued sponsoring her all the way through university.

Today, that same girl has become a lawyer.

Now here's where the story takes another turn.

She said she's grateful for everything the man did for her, but she no longer wants to marry him. According to her, he's no longer the kind of man she sees herself spending the rest of her life with. She wants someone in her own professional class, someone like a lawyer, doctor, or another white-collar professional—not a truck driver.

The painful part is that their traditional wedding has already been fixed for this December.

Now she's asking people for advice because she doesn't know how to call off the wedding without hurting the man who sacrificed so much to make her who she is today.

If you were in this situation, what advice would you give her?

NYSC REFORMS:

On camping, the approved proposal is two weeks of civic, leadership, and life skills training; two weeks of basic accounting and financial literacy, access to finance, business planning, and career mapping; and the last two weeks would be a short immersion into your area of interest. So, you may have read English but be really interested in tech, environment and climate, or the creative sector.

Camps will be certified and graded to ensure that they meet minimum standards. State governments will be given a grace period during which to ensure they meet the standards for infrastructure, accommodation, safety and security and healthcare.

Posting will ordinarily be done impersonally using an algorithm that considers factors like state of origin, state of residence, school attended, etc.

Posting to security flashpoints will be risk-sensitive and people who are not indigenes of those areas or are already residing in those areas should not be posted there.

Regarding the timing of commencement and wider consultation, the NYSC Act would need to be amended for the changes to take effect. This should include public consultations and public hearings. Every legislation passed and assented to is a product of a series of compromises.
