On this last week of February, we’re looking back at the many wonderful memories Dolphins made this month. On Valentine’s Day, 2nd Graders performed the Cupid Shuffle. We are proud to be a school of choice offering visual and performing arts education, including dance! #VAPA
Dolphins are thankful for their friends and families! Last Friday, our kindergarten classes performed some Thanksgiving songs to show their gratitude to the parents and staff who help us make Don Riggio such a special place. #Thanksgiving#Gratitude#VisualAndPerformingArts
Don Riggio teachers love to help our students become more attentive readers and proficient writers! This week, Mrs. Wise's 6th Graders learned the difference between the denotation and the connotation of a word. #WritingLesson#LanguageLesson#Literacy#DolphinPride
We invite you to enjoy a nice dinner and some live music on our hill! This Friday from 6 to 7:30 pm, you can bring a picnic or purchase food for the whole family at Concert on the Hill. Feel free to bring a blanket and chairs! #ConcertOnTheHill#PerformingArts#DolphinPride
2nd Graders are working in groups to make math fun for everyone! Mrs. Dietzel's class uses dice and math game boards to learn one new fact each week. Today, these Dolphins practiced adding 2! #MathClass#InteractiveLearning#DolphinPride
Music is a key aspect of performing arts and a creative outlet for students! Last Friday, LUSD music teachers showed students the instruments they can learn in Band, Choir and Strings. During this performance, Dolphins got the chance to clap along with our all-staff band!
We are proud to be a @CommonSenseEd campus for the upcoming school year! In our classes, Don Riggio students and educators will use technology safely and responsibly to create a better learning environment for all. #CommonSense#DolphinPride
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly two weeks since one of our favorite traditions: the Dance Festival and Art Show. Some of this year’s performances included the 3rd Graders’ Rocky Mountain Pioneer Dance and our first ever Bollywood dance number from the 2nd Graders!
Our students are excited to show how well they can dance! Tomorrow's Dance Festival & Art Show will include a performance from each grade level starting at 8:45 am, followed by an art show. We encourage you to arrive by 8:30 so you can find a good spot. #VisualAndPerformingArts
Our Young Authors are proud of what they've written! Today, students showed their classmates, teachers and families some of the projects they've completed this semester. These Dolphins are mixing words with visual art to tell stories and share what they've learned at school!
Don Riggio students brought their families to the library for an evening full of fun! Last Wednesday, Dolphins of all ages played Bingo for Books so they could take some new stories home. We want to thank our event organizers, including our staff and PTSA, and all who joined us!
Our kindergartners had a special guest to lead them in outdoor learning last Friday! Dr. Hill answered students' questions about different species of butterflies. After his lesson, kindergartners released the butterflies they've been raising this semester!
“America’s Got Talent” winner and Lincoln Unified spoken word poet Brandon Leake invites families to our 2024 Open Mic Night! Students of all grade levels may share their stories and poems this Friday, May 17th, starting at 5:30 pm at Don Riggio. This event is FREE for all!
We are proud to have a compassionate, committed and award-winning principal here at Don Riggio! Last night, Rebecca Mullen was named Elementary Principal of the Art Awardee by @TheSJCOE. #BestOfSanJoaquinCounty#ArtShow
How can you bring supplies from an elevated surface down to the ground? For a #STEM experiment today, Ms. Dietzel instructed 2nd Graders to create a device that can transport materials downward. These four created a line with yarn to send a paper cup down to the floor! #ArtsBlock
Our 5th Graders told Dolphins all about states throughout our nation, from the West Coast to the East Coast. They researched the history, tourist attractions, food and wildlife found in their state of choice. We thank them for sharing their knowledge! #StateReports
The end-of-the-year countdown continues! Our kindergartners spent their morning playing some exciting #math and #phonics games. Mrs. Gehrke's and Ms. Lea's classes used cards to determine numerical values and ran through a circuit of objects that corresponded with words.
The end-of-the-year countdown is on! Every day for the rest of the semester, our kindergartners are taking part in special activities to make each day of the week stand out. Today, Mrs. Gehrke's students blew bubbles to create some colorful works of art! #BubbleArt#VisualArts
We're proud to offer a variety of diverse fiction, nonfiction and poetry at our library! This safe space for reading and creativity is open to Dolphins of all grade levels. We encourage students to check out some of the exciting new books on our shelves! #SchoolLibraryMonth
Don Riggio students love to learn about our environment! During our Earth Day celebration last Friday, Dolphins got to practice being a beekeeper for a day. Here's to many more exciting memories this spring!
