A simple plea for the abolitionists among us, of which I am one.

Today abortion is legal in Missouri on demand in every instance, up to the full term of the pregnancy. A baby 8 months old can be dismembered and ripped from the womb. Abortion drugs are available in mass, with little to zero clinical supervision. All basic health and safety standards for clinics are suspended (under the guise they are a “barrier” to healthcare). Abortionists no longer even need hospital privileges or malpractice insurance.

This is the parade of terribles that followed the misleading 2024 ballot measure. No one predicted this status quo that is better defined as the Wild West of healthcare.

We have a moment in time, right now, to correct nearly all those mistakes with a vote in November. A vote that doesn’t affirm abortions, but rather prevents nearly all of them with some very minor exceptions. An opportunity to protect women save the lives of tens of thousands or more.

That is a moral and righteous vote.

If abortion was completely banned and we were asking for exceptions to be added, that would be a much different debate. A debate where you would be asked to endorse death. But that’s simply not what this is. This is an affirmation of life.

This vote in November is a giant step forward for humanity. A leap forward in a journey that will continue until all life is protected.

Let’s not allow thousands to die because the circumstances aren’t perfect. Lives depend on it. Our women and children depend on it. And once we’re done, let’s continue to fight like hell until all life is protected. That how progress is made and wars are won.
