If there's one thing I think every DJ should take away from the Grimes incident -- it's DON'T get on the mic and announce to the room you're having technical difficulties.

The minute you do that, everyone in the room (or all over the internet in this case) knows. Avoid doing it, and the majority of the room will carry on with their evening like nothing happened because they know no better or weren't paying acute attention.

Fight the battle silently and keep it moving.

There's a lot of dragging going on, and she definitely tripped up big on a huge stage, but it was made 1000x worse by hopping on the mic and sharing technical info that people didn't need to know. People still don't understand what happened (she also mis-explained the problem in the heat of the moment), but they know it was "wrong" or "bad". They likely wouldn't know that if she just kept moving forward.

Sure, some silence and beats that skipped or came in a bit off, but there are huge visuals, new music, and a performance mic to help you recover from the situation. Don't use the mic to dig your hole deeper.
