Whitman Hanson Panthers beat the Beverly Panthers tonight 6-3 in the first round of the MIAA Div. 2 State Playoffs. Whitman Hanson got a goal from Senior Chris Ryan and Freshman Matt Chiaramonte to take a 2-0 lead after 1.

Beverly scored on the Power Play to make it 2-1. Whitman Hanson scored two right back. One from Senior Ben Morgan and one from Senior Pat Ryan to take a 4-1 lead. Beverly scored again in the 2nd to make it 4-2 after 2 periods.

Beverly scored again early in the third on the power play to make it 4-3. Whitman Hanson then got two back to back goals by Junior Colin McLaughlin to take a 6-3 lead and secure the victory.

Logan Bowen scored all 3 goals, each assisted by Mikey O’Leary, as @BevHighHockey (11-6-3) wins its regular season finale at Silver Lake, 3-1.

Bowen finishes as the North Shore’s regular season points leader (22-20-42). First Panther to do so since Connor Irving in 2013-14.

Final matchup of the regular season as Beverly takes a road trip to the South Shore to play the Silver Lake Laker. The two squads met in a first round playoff matchup 4 years ago, Silver Lake took that one 5-2.

Beverly boys hockey ties Winthrop today, 3-3, on a game-tying goal by captain Logan Bowen in the 3rd period.

Panthers, Vikings and Danvers all finish 7-3-2 in the NEC.

Win or tie by Gloucester tonight over Peabody/Saugus/Swampscott tonight and Fishermen clinch the NEC crown.
