@renoomokri@_dinomelaye Oga Senator, accountability should work both ways. Government should answer questions, and public figures should also stand by accurate claims.
@renoomokri@_dinomelaye If you wan criticise Tinubu, criticise am with correct figures. No need to manufacture a different number just to make the story sound worse.
Dear Distinguished Senator @_dinomelaye,
Thank you for your feedback. However, please note that the lowest-paid student on the NELFUND Student Loan Scheme receives ₦20,000 a MONTH, not ₦20,000 a YEAR, as you alleged in this video. In a year, the minimum that students on the program get is ₦240,000. This amount is for student upkeep, which is separate from the tuition paid directly to the school. And most of the over 1 million recipients are from Northern Nigeria, where the average annual university tuition is ₦100,000.
Please find attached an actual screenshot of a monthly NELFUND alert paid to a student admitted to the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, where his total annual school fees are ₦84,000. Notice that it was paid in the current month of September 2026. I will send you his name and contact details privately so you can reach him to verify the information.
The NELFUND Student Loan Program is a lifesaver for Nigerian students. It has enabled over a million students to enrol at universities who otherwise would not have been able to afford it.
And not only students benefit. Under Tinubu, there has been no nationwide ASUU strike because the education sector is now well-funded and lecturers earn a living wage. This is the first time since ASUU was founded that we have not had a national strike under an administration, civil or military.
Perhaps, as patriotic citizens who love Nigeria and want the best for her, we can avoid undermining this lofty idea by not politicising it.
Thanks again, and may God bless you.
