Saying that #AlexisHerman was the first Black U.S. Secretary of Labor doesn’t fully capture the excellence, brilliance, and commitment to ensuring just, equitable spaces that preceded that accomplishment.
Former Secretary Herman worked to desegregate schools in Mobile, Alabama, and at the age of 29, was appointed director of the Women’s Bureau by President Carter. She was the youngest director in the history of the Department of Labor. After the Carter administration, she founded her own consulting firm to work to advance diversity and inclusion in corporate America.
She then served as the first Black woman Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison. In 1997, President Clinton appointed her as the 23rd Secretary of Labor–- the first Black person to hold that position.
And when she “former Secretary,” her excellence, brilliance, and commitment continued.
My heart goes out to her family and friends.
Rest in peace and power, Alexis Herman.

Billionaires gonna billionaire. But we the people have much power when we come together to demand solutions that their profits won’t pay for - rent & mortgages we can afford, good schools where our kids are valued for who they are, being able to see a doctor when we’re sick..
"Too often, these systems inexplicably deny life-saving health care, reject mortgages that would help house deserving families, or jail people for crimes they didn't commit — all due to faulty AI that must be regulated." https://t.co/UDthcaekSE

America has the highest health expenditure, but the lowest life expectancy in the entire world.
Meanwhile, Big Pharma is a $1.5 TRILLION business.
And is booming every year.
Let that sink in.
The world’s richest man built the entire healthcare system to keep you sick.
He transformed healing into a profit-driven machine—and buried natural medicine in the process.
This man is John D. Rockefeller.
And here is the dark story of how he did it: 🧵
In America:
• 41.9% of people are obese
• 70 million suffer from gut issues
• 48% have cardiovascular diseases
• 6 in 10 adults have one chronic disease
There is clearly something rotten in the healthcare system, with its roots stretching back to Rockefeller…
