with adhd/autism it's funny like. people will call you weird all your life, people will bully you for your "outlandish" behaviour, people will criticize literally everything you do as "not normal", BUT THE SECOND YOU GET DIAGNOSED (or suggest you might have it) they're like "huh what but you're so normal, you're literally the most normal person I've ever seen, you're literally so normal and absolutely nothing is wrong with you? why would you have that now all of a sudden???
I got a call from my daughter’s high school principal today. He said she’d been caught operating an “unauthorized commercial enterprise” out of the girls’ locker room. My stomach DROPPED. I left work immediately, already imagining the worst: Drugs. Vapes. Stolen stuff. Some TikTok side hustle gone wrong. By the time I got to the school, I was preparing myself for lawyers, suspension, maybe even police involvement. I walk into the principal’s office….…and my daughter is sitting there quietly with a spiral notebook full of spreadsheets. Not cash. Not customer lists. Spreadsheets. Turns out, she’d noticed some girls at school were quietly struggling: • no money for feminine hygiene products • no winter jackets • wearing the same clothes every week after budget cuts hit families hard So she started her own underground support network. She collected donated jackets, hygiene products, gloves, and clothes from wealthier neighborhoods.
Then she cataloged everything by size and need in her notebook like a tiny operations manager. And from her gym locker, she distributed items discreetly to students who needed them — no embarrassment, no announcements, no attention. The principal wasn’t calling because she was in trouble. He called because the school found out… and wanted my permission to turn her “illegal locker room business” into an official school charity program.
I thought I was driving to the biggest parenting nightmare of my life. Instead, I walked into one of the proudest moments I’ve ever had as a parent.
if a doctor who graduated medical school says you need something, it should be illegal for someone sitting behind an insurance desk with absolutely zero medical training to deny you coverage...
Zohran Mamdani met with FIFA for months and worked to get New Yorkers a chance to see the World Cup for only $50, with a free bus ride.
Ticketmaster is selling the same ticket for $500+...
Imagine how much brainwashing it took to convince people that socialist progressive policies are bad for the people
I'll never forget when I blacked out at a Roots store because the cashier was acting like my father's perfectly articulated ENGLISH sentences were a different language he simply could not understand. & my frustration and anger came from my father's clear sadness of not being understood. I wanted to kill for my dad that day.
At risk of starting a mommy war, I have to say something I wish someone had kindly told me years ago.
When you’re breastfeeding a little bit of milk drips into your bra, after only half a day you smell like sour milk.
You can’t tell because you’re use to it, but other people can smell it, especially in tight quarters and rotten milk is particularly off putting.
Wearing a pad in your bra and changing it out every few hours along with daily bathing takes care of this odour.
Also change the baby’s clothes at least once a day and take a warm wash cloth and some soap to the baby’s face, neck folds and behind the ears at least once per day.
I’m genuinely not trying to be offensive nor am I telling anyone they must heed my advice, you’re free to prioritise whatever you wish in your life.
As I said, I wish I had a granny tell me this, and other things like this, when I was young.
Gunpowder used to be for entertainment, then it was used to kill.
Drones used to be for entertainment, then they were used to kill.
AI is used for entertainment.
Before pride month starts im just gonna say this:
-men’s mental health month is in November
-straight pride isn’t a thing. Nobody has ever been oppressed or killed for being straight
-veterans get 2 months. May and November
So do some research before complaining :)
Sometimes I think what we mistake for wanting a relationship is actually just craving connection. Wanting someone you can always call and they’ll gladly pick up. Someone that checks on you, wants to hear your voice as much as you want to hear theirs. Those random conversations, late night calls, laughing over nothing, telling someone about your day, feeling emotionally close to someone… sometimes that’s really all you’re craving.
Not necessarily the pressure of a relationship itself, but the comfort of having “your person.” Someone you can talk to effortlessly, be vulnerable with, and feel emotionally safe around. Maybe that’s why a lot of us think we want relationships so badly, when deep down we just miss connection, consistency, closeness, and being genuinely cared for.
As you get older you realise that first red flag that you ignored will be the reason you break up 2 years later.
And you will regret not walking away that first time.
