@HistorianUSA1 McDonald’s done the same thing to a small ice cream shop in a small town near me.
McDonald was the owners last name.
Maybe that is a stretch but still..
The state of the trucking industry August 2026:
Preet running on his cousin’s CDL just came to America last year, can laugh and say no at least, carries water bottle to toilets, can’t find a parking spot in the truck stop at night so parks in the paid spots for free, running stolen freight, never gets stopped at scales. And meanwhile Bobby with “Best Place to Work” carrier and 25 years got a fix it ticket today for a “chaffed airline”, company paid for his reserved spot, but Preet is parked there and the emo kid who is confused about their gender won’t do a thing about it. Ed just wants a hot dog, nothing on the roller grill at 6pm, it’s closed for the night, and coffee isn’t out til 8pm. Jose picked up a hotshot load that was supposed to go on a flatbed, but the loader doesn’t really care. Meanwhile Jim has a flatbed and his load was cancelled because Jose picked it up fraudulently, no one gonna see that freight that’s suppose to. Charles lays down for the last time after 38 years behind the wheel, his company will start wondering where he is in a couple of days. Pamela is scared to get out of her truck because Scott is a weirdo that said really inappropriate stuff to her at the fuel island and parked across the way and has the thousand yard stare. David misses the “good old days” while he thumbs through his daughter’s FB page wishing he could see his grandkids more often while the APU keeps him cool. 82% of the parked truckers are overweight, half that number obese. They work hours, days, weeks, months on end. They do whatever to make it a bit better, chase whatever dream is there. Some are happy with what they got and many will never be happy no matter what they get. And it’ll always be this way, and it will get worse, and it will get better. And that’s the madness of it all, for starters.
