the end of a fairytale.

7 weeks, 7 games, an entire summer at the @EWC_EN in my home country 🇫🇷. i'm truly emotional to have lived this through a tough personal chapter.

some of these games weren’t my specialty going in, but you all made it feel like home anyway. and damn, i had so much fun.

big thanks to all the players putting up with my questions, sometimes with just a word (^^) or sometimes with tears or frank laughs.
my biggest thanks have to go to the fans, thanks for your passion and for trusting me to do a good job with games that weren’t even mine. I hope i didn't disappoint you 🫶

Then of course, @iainchambers, my duo, you know it already but your presence alone made me grow so much and I feel that I am both a better host and person at the end of this summer. I hope we work together again very soon, and thanks to all our colleagues too🥺

On another hand, I'm also happy I got to show some of my language skills too on this stage, and I’m not stopping there: i'm going to start taking Korean and Arabic lessons in September 🇰🇷🇸🇦 !!

I can’t tell you my favorite moment or game this summer, so I’ll let you guess in the replies 👀
I also truly hope this is the start of me diving into these new games and working on their competitions again in the future.

You absolutely need to understand that, just because you don't SEE the work, doesn't mean it does not exist

I swear half the problems we encounter in esports can be solved when integrating this idea into your daily life. If you only take into account what you're able to understand, you're missing a big chunk of what's really going on in a team or a project

I understand that most esports viewers and enjoyers don't grasp much more than what is available from a first impression or random stats thrown at their faces

But something I always suggest is that instead of stating things you should switch to asking things

This could have been a "I wonder why all IGLs seem to score pretty low and seem like they've lost their skill, I just don't understand what's so difficult about the role"

You always get great answers that way, I promise 😉

Great IGLs are able to adjust how they call/play to what the situation calls for, which requires a lot of awareness and selflessness. When everything is flowing within the team it’s feels easier, everyone can have their moments to shine individually and everyone can focus on their micro more. But when it gets tough, mimi is able to flick that internal micro/macro “switch” to do what she needs to do for us to win in that moment until we reach the next break in play or regain some momentum. Her focus shifts to the minimap more than her crosshair to better control our macro. She prioritises reactivating teammates over calling around herself. She sacrifices her own good fights to create space when our scaling/teamfighting is off. It’s a constant balance between focusing on her in-game role as a player and focusing on the needs of the team. Even when winning, it’s a tough balance for an IGL to strike. mimi does it brilliantly, all while frequently having halves, maps and matches where she shows off her quality as a player.

Oh, not to mention the countless hours she puts in with me to prepare for matches…mimi leads by example both in and out of the server, and I’m grateful to be working with such an incredible IGL, teammate and player.

She’s won more titles than you can count on your fingers. She’s transformed herself as a player multiple times, and is the common denominator on the most consistent GC roster across 5years. That doesn’t happen by accident. Put some respect on her name.

You know, when i werent the IGL and prepare for every game we are playing, making sure our micro and macro makes sense, I was the one top of the scoreboard every game making us win with stats. Now i am lucky enough to have build an amazing team with teammates i can rely on doing that. Now i try and make sure i always put them in the best position every game so they can shine the brightest ✨
