This past weekend, I was invited to be a panelist at the 102.3 KJLH Women's Health Expo, sponsored by the Black Infant Health Program. Under the theme 'Women Turning Strength into Purpose,' the event was a powerful celebration of resilience and empowerment.

Visited EDCO last week! EDCO is a waste collection and recycling company serving SoCal since 1967. EDCO specializes in comprehensive waste removal and recycling programs, catering to various needs. It was inspiring to see their commitment to sustainability and the community.

The McKinley Neighborhood Cleanup hosted by my office was a success! Council District 9 residents and city staff joined forces to beautify the area. Thank you to Mayor Rex Richardson, the McKinley neighborhood, Griffis Residential, Car-lite, Clean Team, and Conservation Corp.

Long Beach held the LGBTQ+ Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall to kick off Long Beach Pride and honor LGBTQ+ civil rights leader Harvey Milk's birthday. The event showcased the city's commitment to inclusivity and respect for all LGBTQ+ individuals.

#TeamD9 attended the Breakfast BLAST! last Friday. This initiative bridges success for socioeconomically disadvantaged students by connecting them with mentors. This breakfast was to acknowledge and support the stakeholders that have helped to support BLAST!

#TeamD9 attended Neighborhood Revitalization in Overlooked Communities panel discussion last Wednesday. With perspectives from nonprofit and for-profit developers, the conversation focused on collaborative solutions for mutual benefit between residents and developers.

This past Tuesday, our community came together to honor the men and women of the LBPD AND LBFD at the Annual Fire and Police Memorial Service. It was a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty and their impact on our city.
