🔸As per the instructions of Hon’ble Shri. Deven Bharti @CPMumbaiPolice Grievance Redressal Day was organised on 6th June 2026, Saturday across all police stations under the supervision of the Jt. CP (L&O).

On this occasion, Addl CsP and DCsP also visited the Police Stations and guided them. All ACsP and Senior Police Inspectors addressed the complaints and took appropriate action on the applications, registered cases and reported crimes.

यावेळी प्रादेशिक विभागाचे अपर पोलीस आयुक्त व पोलीस उप आयुक्त यांनी भेटी देऊन मार्गदर्शन केले. विभागीय सहायक पोलीस आयुक्त व वरिष्ठ पोलीस निरीक्षक यांनी तक्रारदरांच्या तक्रारी / तक्रार अर्ज/ दाखल गुन्हे यावर कार्यवाही करत निवारण केले.

महिलांविरुद्ध कोणतेही गुन्हे घडल्यास, नागरिकांनी हेल्पलाईन क्रमांक १०९० किंवा १००/११२ डायल करून संपर्क साधावा.

For years, Kala-Azar was a death sentence for some of India’s poorest families.

And treatment itself felt like punishment.
15 injections. Every alternate day.
A drug that sometimes caused dangerous heart complications.

For many families, surviving the disease wasn’t the only battle, a month away from work often meant losing the income that kept food on the table.

Prof. Shyam Sundar from Banaras Hindu University looked at this reality and asked:
What if one dose is enough?

In 2010, his landmark study in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that a single-dose liposomal amphotericin B treatment could cure Kala-Azar with a 95.6% success rate.

One breakthrough changed everything.

He also helped introduce rapid diagnostic strip tests that cut detection time from weeks to minutes.

WHO updated treatment protocols.
The medicine that cost nearly ₹19,000 per vial started reaching India free through donation programmes.

Today, India has moved from battling Kala-Azar outbreaks to pushing toward elimination.
And behind that story is a professor who spent decades making sure poverty didn’t decide who lives and who dies.

I donated around 60 litres of breast milk to the government hospital in Hyderabad and Chennai during my first year of post partum!!

Why does it matter? Just 100ml of donor milk can feed a tiny 1kg baby for several days. This donation could potentially support dozens of infants in the NICU.
