On June 3, 1905, "A young Chinese evangelist and his wife, a bride of 18, came to see him [Missionary Hudson Taylor, China]... Arriving in the afternoon while tea was going on [equivalent to American supper], they did not ask to see him. They would wait until the next day."
He died that night.
"Together they stood beside the bed in silence, until the young man said, 'Do you think I might hold his hand?'
"Then he bent over, took one of Taylor's hands in his own, stroked it tenderly, and began to talk to him just as if he could hear. He said, 'Dear venerable Pastor, we truly love you. We, too, are your children. We have come today to see you. You opened for us the road, the road to Heaven. You loved us and prayed for us long years. We came today to look upon your face."

Such little things as Christians commonly do, will not evince much increase of grace. We must do great things for God.

Without the intense tension on the strings of a grand piano, it could produce no beautiful music.

"For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." {2nd Corinthians 4:16-18}
Hudson Taylor's 8-year-old daughter, Gracie, lay dying of meningitis. Taylor wrote to a friend, "Surely this is holy ground. I am trying to pen a few lines by the couch on which my darling little Gracie lies dying. It was knowing this land [China], its people and climate, that I laid my wife and children, with myself, on the altar for this service ... and HE WHOSE WE ARE ... has not left us now."
Though the loss was so great and overwhelming, Hudson Taylor and his wife consecrated themselves afresh to the task of reaching inland China with the Gospel.

Here are some easy suggestions which help me pray more intentionally:
1. Keep a prayer journal.
2. Each time the Lord answers even the simplest prayer, write the answer.
3. From time to time, read over your prayer journal to remind yourself of how the Lord has worked in your life by prayer.

Oh, that our earnest pleadings, which have brought upon our devoted head so much of obloquy*, would recall the churches to the good old way!
The sword and trowel have both been used this year with all our might. We have built up the wall of the city, and we have tried to smite the King's enemies. How could we help it? No loyal soldier could endure to see his Lord's cause so grievously wronged by traitors.
Meanwhile, it behoves all who love the Lord Jesus and his gospel to keep close together, and make common cause against deadly error. There are thousands who are of one mind in the Lord; let them break through all the separating lines of sect, and show their unity in Christ, both by prayer and action. Especially do we beg for the fervent prayers of all the faithful in Christ Jesus.

* obloquy = "Censorious speech; reproachful language; language that casts contempt on men or their actions." {Noah Webster}
Pride inflates our egos and feeds our expectations, which later leads to disappointment when those expectations go unfulfilled. It renders a person unteachable, unreachable, and unmovable. When a person becomes entrenched in his own way and unwilling to receive wisdom, he is headed for disappointment, destruction, and depression.
To conquer pride, humble yourself before God and others.

• "And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father." {1st Kings 15:11}
This the reputation you should want: doing right in the eyes of the Lord. That must be your daily goal.
• "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." {Proverbs 16:18}
This is a familiar verse, but one that we often forget. Pride is a sneaky, devastating sin that has destroyed many a ministry and life.
• "Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing." {John 21:3}
"And he [Jesus] said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes." {v. 6}
If your hard work is producing minimal results, Jesus is waiting to help you fill your net and fulfill your calling.

Paul wrote to his Hebrew-Christian brethren: “And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.” {Hebrews 3:5-6}
Praise God, there is an end to our present struggles: it is death! Viewed from the vantage point of absolute faith in Christ, that thought is not terrifying — it is liberating!
In Christ, you can “hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.”

God has a pattern by which He has designed His music to sound. He created music for the purpose of praising and worshiping Him.
Satan has designed his music to be extremely evil. It captures your heart and your mind, destroying both. Evil music is aimed at fulfilling the lust of the flesh. Satan's music removes your desire to seek God. He has twisted and tempered with music until most Christians do not know right from wrong.
With his music, Satan demands that you become his slave. He is a dictator whose chains of sin become harder and harder to break. Satan's music becomes so addictive that you want more and more of that music that makes the body feel good. Satan's ungodly music dictates how you will think and act and behave as his slave. It destroys your future. The hardest young people to save from a self-centered life are those whom Satan has captured with his music.
God's music frees you from bondage and slavery, allowing you to live happily, joyfully, and contentedly. By putting praise, thanksgiving, and singing in your daily schedule, you will live both joyful and satisfied.

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” {Proverbs 14:34}
America is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which officially proclaimed the thirteen colonies of the United States free from British rule. Over the years God has truly blessed America, because it has its roots from the Pilgrims and Founding Fathers whose intentions were to establish a nation that is based upon the principles of God’s Word (Psam 33:12) to promote life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Initially, our nation was ruled by a series of men who, while not perfect, acknowledged God and expressed their dependence upon Him. Our first President, George Washington, set the example of taking the presidential oath of office by placing his left hand on a Bible. Our godly heritage made it possible for sending thousands of American missionaries throughout the world to preach the gospel (2nd Corinthians 10:16). We have befriended Israel and supported it (Gen. 12:3).
Sadly, the future of our nation is quickly eroding, and we can see the terrible results around us. Many of our leaders have turned away from God (Ps. 9:17), resulting in a loss of guidance, wisdom, and moral clarity (Prov. 11:4). There is an ever-increasing wickedness in our society (2 Tim. 3:2). Pagan indoctrination in public education has been relentlessly removing God. They have been pushing their gender theory on children as young as preschool (Is. 5:20). A 2025 study indicated a 422% increase among 18- to 22-year-olds identifying as transgender. Many of our younger generation are more focused on their social media and cell phones: they have “no delight in understanding” (Prov. 18:2). They can’t correlate our country with God. According to a recent national survey, 46% of Americans don’t even know what the 250th anniversary (Semiquincentennial) commemorates.
Bible-believing Christians, there is still hope for revival in America. But we need to be more vigilant and fervent in our prayers so that God can help us with His guidance and heal our land (2nd Chronicles 7:14)! God bless you and God bless America!

Dear Friends,
Two hundred and fifty years ago, a group of ordinary men made an extraordinary decision, to pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to an idea that had never before been tried at such scale. That idea was freedom. And by the grace of God, it worked.
America is not an accident. She is a miracle.
From the frozen banks of the Delaware to the beaches of Normandy. From the halls of Independence to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. From the fields of Gettysburg to the mountains of Iwo Jima. At every moment when the flame of liberty flickered, Americans rose, and held it high.
This is the nation that opened its arms to the tired and the hungry. That sent its sons and daughters to liberate continents it had never claimed. That put men on the moon, built the greatest economy the world has ever known, and written into law the most enduring guarantee of human dignity in the history of civilization.
And at the foundation of it all, acknowledged by her Founders, woven into her documents, and carved above her courthouses, is the unchanging truth that our rights do not come from government. They come from God.
Two hundred and fifty years later, that truth still stands.
As we celebrate this magnificent milestone, we do not simply look back with pride, we look forward with purpose. The same faith that built this Republic is the faith that will sustain it.
The same courage that crossed the Delaware is the courage God is calling from His Church today. The same conviction that declared all men are created equal is the conviction we must carry into every school board, every statehouse, and every public square in America.
The experiment is not over.
The story is not finished.
And as long as believers remain salt and light in this nation,
the best days of America are still ahead.
Happy 250th Birthday, America!
May God continue to shed His grace on thee.
God Bless!

"And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others." {Ephesians 2:1-3}
Satan is the ruler we once followed.
Jesus created all principalities, powers, and dominions (Colossians 1:16), including the principality of the world. Jesus made Satan the prince of this world (See John 12:31; 14:30; and 16:11; Satan was prince of this physical earth, not merely this “age”). Jesus cast Satan out; he is no longer “prince of this world” (John 12:31).
Satan was “prince of this world,” and at one point could boast all the kingdoms of the world were his to give to whom he pleased (Matthew 4:8-9; Luke 4:5-7). Jesus did not correct him, but did rebuke him: “Get thee behind me, Satan...” {Luke 4:8} He commanded Satan to take his place “behind” Jesus. Although Satan was, at that time, “prince of this world,” he was lower in rank than Jesus, the Creator of the principality (Colossians 1:16). Jesus bound him through prayer and fasting, and proceeded thereafter to “spoil” the principalities over which the Devil presided. This was fully accomplished on the Cross (Colossians 2:15-16).
Along the still waters, I reflected on the truth that while Satan is, indeed, “prince of the power of the air,” he is still under the command of Christ and must yield to His greater rank. I reflected that Jesus received “all power in heaven and in earth,” and understood this to mean the “power of the air” is under His domain, and all authority.
However, we know that Jesus is the Creator and already had all power, all glory, all all honour, over all things, including Satan and the principality over which he presided — the world and the kingdom of man, inclusive of all the kingdoms into which it was divided in Nimrod. (See Daniel 4, Genesis 10-11.) So how is it that “all power is given unto me [Jesus]” (Matthew 29:18)?
Jesus is the Word that was with God and was God at creation (John 1:1; Genesis 1:1-2; see Colossians 1:16); however, the name Jesus was given to God manifest in the “flesh” (John 1:14). In other words, as Christ, the second Person of the Godhead, the Creator, all was His; however, as “man”, He had to remove Satan to receive all power over Heaven and Earth. God gave dominion to the kingdom of man (Genesis 1:26-27). Satan usurped it when man sinned (Genesis 3) and came under the “power of death” held by Satan (Hebrews 2:14). Consistent with His own word, Jesus was sent to die on the Cross, spoiling Satan’s power, and removing from him the power of death.
This means that God transferred all power from the first Adam to the “Last Adam” (1st Corinthians 15:45). All who are baptized by the Spirit into Christ are jointheirs with Him (Romans 8:17). Selah.
◇ Pastor Jerry Scheidbach (Lighthouse Baptist Church of Santa Maria, California)
Giving to the needy is like laying up against winter, or against a time of calamity. It is the best way of laying up for yourselves and for your children. Children in a time of need very often find their fathers bread, that bread which their fathers had cast upon the waters. Psa. 37:25, "I have been young and now am old, yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." Why? What is the reason of it? It follows in the next verse, "He is ever merciful and lendeth, and his seed is blessed."
Whether the time will ever come or not, that we or our children shall be in distressing want of bread; yet doubtless evil will be on the earth. We shall have our times of calamity, wherein we shall stand in great need of Gods pity and help, if not of that of our fellow creatures. And God hath promised that at such a time, he that hath been of a charitable spirit and practice, shall find help. Psa. 41:1-4, "Blessed is he that considereth the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth; and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness." Such as have been merciful and liberal to others in their distress, God will not forget it, but will so order it, that they shall have help when they are in distress. Yea, their children shall reap the fruit of it in the day of trouble.
God hath threatened uncharitable persons, that if ever they come to be in calamity and distress they shall be left helpless. Pro. 21:13, "Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he shall cry himself and not be heard."

Proud of their sexual perversions, but unenthusiastic about the nation that provides them with unparalleled liberty and unmatched prosperity?
There's a reason I refer to the adherents of that unAmerican, ungodly mob of political anarchists and social subversives as DEMONCRATS — all the moreso as they drift ever further into the merciless clutches of communism.
