Southern Railway, Chennai Division is committed to providing a safe, secure and passenger-friendly environment for all rail users. The incident at Chennai Egmore Railway Station occurred during a routine ticket-checking drive carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Railways Act.

The matter has been referred to the Government Railway Police for investigation. A detailed departmental inquiry will also be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry and the outcome of the police investigation.

Southern Railway, Chennai Division remains committed to treating every passenger with courtesy, dignity and respect while ensuring that the provisions of the Railways Act are enforced fairly, uniformly and without exception in the interest of the safety, security and convenience of all.
