Grand Total MBBS+BDS:
2025-26: 1,754 seats
2026-27: 1,680 seats
NET LOSS: 74 SEATS.
KMU has requested PMDC to retain the previous session's allocations for 2026-27.

101. Governor KP, PMDC, VC KMU: 120 seats added in Bacha Khan, Swat, Gomal - good. But 194 cut from other colleges = net -74 loss. Restore please. #RestoreKPMedicalSeats
Bacha Khan, Saidu, Gomal +50 each appreciated. But KMC, Ayub, etc -20-30 each not acceptable.
If some seats increased then why decreased other seats
@fkkundi#RestoreKPMedicalSeats

#RestoreKPMedicalSeats
Pehle hi seats kam hain, mazeed kami zyadti hai.

🚨 KP IS LOSING MEDICAL & DENTAL SEATS, BUT WHY, AND WHO IS RESPONSIBLE
PMDC approved 120 additional MBBS seats across Bacha Khan Medical College, Saidu Medical College and Gomal Medical College.
We welcome these increases.
However, 105 previously available MBBS seats and 89 BDS seats were simultaneously withdrawn from the intake figures.
120 added. 194 removed. Net loss: 74.
THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES:
2025–26 vs 2026–27:
MBBS: 1,435 → 1,450 (+15)
BDS: 319 → 230 (−89)
Total: 1,754 → 1,680
Net loss: 74 public-sector seats.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE?
Together with the MDCAT Students and Parents Committee, we met Additional Secretary Health Mr Minhas.
We raised the seat-reduction crisis and demanded an urgent solution.
Based on that, October 26, KMU also formally wrote to PMDC requesting retention of the previous year's seat allocations but @pmdcofficial has rejected.
PMDC's position is that many of the earlier additional seats were temporary, one-time compensatory allocations rather than permanently sanctioned capacity.
These cannot automatically continue without the required approvals.
Colleges must formally apply for increased intake, demonstrate sufficient faculty and clinical facilities, and undergo PMDC assessment.
Fair enough. Medical education standards must never be compromised.
But here's the real question:
If these seats were temporary, why wasn't their future resolved months before admissions?
Why were the relevant college administrations & KMU not better coordinated to prevent this uncertainty?
Who was responsible for ensuring timely applications and inspections?
Why must students pay the price for administrative delays?
WHAT MUST HAPPEN NOW?
1. KMU must publish a transparent college-wise and category-wise breakdown of every seat gained, withdrawn or awaiting approval.
2. The KP Health Department and concerned colleges must immediately complete seat-enhancement applications and address deficiencies in faculty and facilities.
3. PMDC must arrange expedited inspections and make decisions before final admissions, wherever legally and academically possible.
4. The Governor, Federal Health Minister and provincial authorities must jointly coordinate an urgent resolution instead of shifting responsibility between institutions.
We are not asking PMDC to compromise medical education standards. We are asking our institutions to fulfil those standards, complete the necessary processes and protect every seat that can lawfully be restored.
For a talented student from an ordinary family, a public-sector medical seat is not merely a number. It may be the only affordable opportunity to become a doctor or dentist.
A student's future should depend on merit, not on whether institutions completed their paperwork on time.
We appeal to Governor @fkkundi, @SamarHBilour, Federal Health Minister @KamalMQM, @pmdcofficial and @kmuofficial_ to intervene urgently.
Restore every eligible seat before admissions are finalised.
Students fulfilled their responsibility by working hard and competing on merit. Now it is time for our institutions to fulfil theirs.
