He’s as tall as a hunter’s spear.
As dark as midnight in Fort Portal,
As handsome as a Mubiito prince,
An adult, not needing bully regents…
His deep-set eyes are tinged with sorrow.
His long royal nose will detect spies afar.
His forehead protrudes with wisdom.
His bald head shines like Tooro’s mirror.
His silver beard announces stability.
His sex moustache sits above full lips.
As articulate as the journalist he is,
Prince Edward Rukidi Kijjanangoma
Signals Tooro kingdom’s continuity,
Even when he married Amoding - a Luo!

Today, I received the body of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, at Entebbe International Airport.

The Queen Mother first informed me of his illness in November 2025, and we supported efforts to secure specialised treatment for him in Germany and later in the United States. Unfortunately, he died.

Throughout his reign as King of Tooro, Oyo was a good person and a good leader. His passing is a great loss to the people of Tooro and Uganda.

I encourage the people of Tooro to remain calm and avoid disorganisation, even in this difficult time.
May the Lord grant him eternal rest. Amen.

Hon @JoelSsenyonyi: The question of the lack of resources for medical interns does not arise. The government recently suspended public holiday functions to save money.

We, as parliament, had already passed that entire budget so that money is available, and about UGX 24 billion is going to be saved.

Now that those functions are not going to be held, why don’t we channel that money to the medical interns?
