I support strengthening the requirements for Irish citizenship: English-language communication, some cúpla focal/Irish phrases, knowledge of Irish civic life and integration, and a citizenship exam.

But I do not support extending the citizenship pathway from 5 to 8 years for Critical Skills workers such as doctors and other healthcare professionals.

Ireland must remain attractive to highly skilled talent. If comparable European countries offer citizenship after 5 years, many may simply choose elsewhere. An 8-year pathway may make sense for other categories, but Critical Skills workers should be exempt.
