My take on Medical Doctors refusing posting:
1. The medical doctors are not mandated to work for GHS after housemanship. Therefore accepting postings is an individual choice.
2. Government (employer) is also not mandated to employ medical doctors after housemanship. Therefore Drs cannot tell the employer where they want to work.
3. Then comes in the "Who needs who the most" factor.
4. Most medical doctors are from the elite class who can easily survive even without posting or employment. They have vast opportunities an the private sector and outside the country.
5. Unfortunately for Government, he needs people to manage its facilities. His options is to recruit PAs in place of the medical doctors or to import Drs from elsewhere.
6. And Government has sat down ignorantly to allow the Drs to strategically suppress the PAs growth and numbers. They intelligently introduce GEMP and gave PAs the priority just to weaken the PA profession. Importing Drs too comes at a higher cost.
7. Short term solution is to Negotiate with the Drs and giving them incentives to accept postings.
8. Long term solution is to 1. Enhance the training and growth if PAs in the system. This will reduce Complacency on the side of Drs and prevent them from holding Government at ransom in all their engagements. Pure daylight blackmail.
2. Reintroduce district scholarships to support children from less endowed communities and districts to pursue medicine. These are the once who will accept postings to the hinterlands. You don't expect an East Legon Dbee son to accept posting to work at Bumgrugu Yooyoo.

@JPAAG24@mohgovgh@JDMahama@KMAkandoh In my private practice, I've received many referrals from peripheral facilities where a nurse saw the patient managed and referred. Meaning, cases are seen by unqualified professionals. Mostly, they misdiagnosed and mismanage the patient. Meanwhile physician assistants are home.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
"Is the health sector unemployment crisis a reflection of deliberate neglect by the government, or does it stem from systemic inequalities in recruitment?"

πππPOINT OF CORRECTION πππββββββ
Our attention has been drawn to a misleading reportage by a journalist at @utvghana describing Physician Assistants as "small nurses sitting with doctors in the consulting room".
We urge UTV Ghana to Issue a public apology and Correct the misinformation promptly.
Let's promote respect for all healthcare professionals and share accurate information. #RespectPhysicianAssistants#AccurateInfoMatters
@CitizenTechiman@CheEsquire All well and good
Is Mr Albert going to reduce the price at which he sells his imported goods ?
If not , heβs made a profit of 30,000 cool chop. Meanwhile the ordinary man like me , whoβs paying retail prices, sees no difference in my cost of living !
BBC News (World) wrote an article about Ken Ofori Atta being declared wanted by the Office of Special Prosecutor and the reactions from angry Ghanaians will make your day
