Jesus. Using #Grok used to be fun. I get only 20 attempts and not only does it not do what I want, it will occasionally fail to do anything at all. Why the hell would anyone pay for that?
This Grok update may help its competitors. ChatGPT is $20/month while Grok ranges from $30–$300 (temporary $99 until October). Weekly limits forcing credit purchases could drive users away, and many Grok users are complaining. Elon might have destroyed his own app.. we’ll see.
AI creators: keep an eye on your SuperGrok usage gauge.
I think we’ve just moved from a clear video quota to an opaque weekly pool that mixes everything together: Chat, Imagine, images, videos, and other features.
Before, the limit was simple:
13 videos per day.
That was already not a lot for a creator who needs to test, fix, regenerate, compare outputs, and throw away failed generations. But at least it was readable.
Now, on my account, everything seems to go through a global usage gauge.
My current observations:
10 chat messages ≈ 2%
1 video ≈ 1 to 2%
So if we take an average of 2% per video:
100% / 2 = 50 videos per week.
Before:
13 videos/day × 7 = 91 videos per week.
So we may have potentially gone from 91 to 50 videos per week.
That’s around -45% video capacity.
And even then, this calculation assumes you barely use the chat. If talking to Grok also consumes the same gauge, the real video capacity can drop even lower.
In practice, 13 videos/day could become closer to 6 or 7 videos/day.
Same subscription.
Less visibility.
Less control.
Less predictability.
And once the gauge is empty: extra credits to buy.
For a subscription around €35/month, I find this very hard to accept.
The problem isn’t only the potential quota reduction.
The real problem is opacity.
Before, I knew how many videos I could make.
Now, I have to guess how much each action is going to cost me.
For AI creators, this is huge. A failed video is not “wasted fun” in the creative process: it is a necessary attempt. And if every attempt hits the same unpredictable global gauge, the whole workflow becomes unstable.
I’m not saying my calculation applies to everyone.
I’m saying: check your gauge, track your usage, compare before and after.
Because if my observations are confirmed, SuperGrok may have just lost a major part of its value for AI video creators.
Is it just me, or does this look really bad ?

Dear @elonmusk@xai@grok
I am a SuperGrok subscriber and I respectfully request a change to the current Grok Imagine policy.
It is unacceptable that after creating just 5 videos, my usage limit drops to only 8%.
The combination of very low limits and too many messages makes the service feel very restrictive. It seems like there is not enough care for paying customers.
Please review and improve the limits for SuperGrok users.
Thank you.
Usage limit will be everywhere, car, meat, water, electricity heat, climatisation, CO2 . The ai are just here to teach us, to be used to this strange concept. via #Agenda2030 From the #WEF#usage#limit#Grok
now we know where the Fable 5 compute is coming from 🙄
supergrok users got absolutely hosed by these changes, i legit think they cut usage to 1/7th of previous levels
Okay, this is bullshit. I gave xAI a hundred bucks and suddenly like a month later this new weekly usage system is brought in and I can't do a thing for five days now. Fuck off @elonmusk, give me my money back, I'm not into this bait-n-switch garbage.
#Grok
I don’t understand why you pay for Grok AI and you’re paying a subscription $30 a month and then it tells you that you reached your limit for the day after asking like maybe five questions it’s ridiculous on the phone and when you’re on your desktop, it doesn’t seem to run out. It slows down after about an hour or so, which I don’t understand.
Downgraded! I think that is the feeling most long term Grok users feel about the change in usage limits.
Many people who were never hitting caps now find themselves doing so, and are asking why am I getting less for my money than I was until now.
And it's a legit question that I think xAi will need to address.
How, I'm not sure. Maybe they need to reverse the changes for those who are part way through a yearly subscription until the next renew, or maybe they need to adjust pricing or give credits.
Either way, they need to take some clear and practical action soon as it's not just about losing people to other platforms, but the ongoing damage to reputation.
It's not good when people feel xAi can no longer be trusted. Hopefully it's not too late.
@mark_k@xai SuperGrok user here! I love Grok, but this usage is complete BS! I was introduced to it yesterday, and in 24 hours I'm at 78%! I have never reached a limit using the chat function, but now I'm close to it! Personal opinion: xAI and Elon are slowly killing Grok 😢
@elonmusk@X@Support@grok Grok just outrigjht fucking lies sometimes. Elon, you might want to do something about this because I asked it about the 20 question limit and it just outright fucking denied it no matter how much I tried to reason with it.
THAT is a fucking problem.
