@theo for me discovering git worktrees really helped isolating work and context switching in an instant. I would rather have intended rebases on master rather than having it automatically done. I value control
@theo not sure I fully get what you mean for 3. and 4. but you don't have to work with git from CLI, there is libgit2 library. Also the way worktrees are done is super useful and safe. I really don't want to change the same branch in two worktrees. I can always branch in a new worktree
At work I was to lazy to map tmux default prefix, Ctrl+B, to what I used and seen other use, Ctrl+A. Now at home I accidentally use Ctrl+B. Damn muscle memory. I need to pick one and go with it. :-D
@theo I prefer CLI/TUI tools (Vim, tmux) over GUIs; they fit my toolbox better. I only use a GUI for browsing or drawing. GUIs lack a good keyboard UX, and keybindings suck. For images/screenshots, I save them to disk for the future and reference them locally (e.g., check image.png).
@SebAaltonen@ID_AA_Carmack About multiplayer I would say it's nice to have, but if it's only multiplayer the game is garage. Personalul I play games to get away from people, not meet more of them. I want my 2 hours of loving รฎn my own world kind of thing.
@mitchellh@ellie_huxtable I did not try anything else other than tmux. I tried to use terminal tabs and split, but that setup sucks. I want something both local and SSH friendly.
Writing code mostly with prompting and only reading it it's still harmful for my ability to understand code. I can see the LLM added the diff, but I lose my ability to see the big picture. Pushing for LLMs while numbing engineers capability to reason is not OK long run. My 2 cent
@EUinMoldova For the light bulbs I agree, but are there any la studies about phone and laptop charges real phantom draw? This is a honest question as I try to find a ball ce between savings and convenience. Sometimes convenience is more important than a few cents saved. Thanx!
@valigo This trend is peak bulshit. Everything should original and offer the optional to translate. It's the same with movies and cartoons, why would someone prefer a double Morgan Freeman vs subtitles? Beats me...
@ligth_daniel@jitsegroen@elonmusk@grok@grok Auto translation is an abomination. On YouTube they even do automatice voice double which sound like ass and title auto translation. Have a on/off togle or an optional translaศie buttons for each post
Rust as a language I like it. For me it's the easiest language to understand. What would be even more amazing are dynamic libraries. If a dynamic library is a Rust library it should provide the needed guarantees. C FFI should still remain unsafe tho. Something like C# DDLs? Hmm..
@marchr I have one more, respect other major bootloaders. I always hate when Windows always fucks my dual boot system and I always have to manually restore GRUB. What about support for real Windows containers? Curent Windows only implementation sucks and requires huge images.
@marchr Being able to set my own custom keybindings. This is why I switched to Linux, the ability to configurez my OS the way I want it, not the way some designer thought it's cool. At minimum custom key bindings to switch virtual desktop. Ideally an optional tiling Windows manager.
@marchr Get rid of all the AI crap. Why do you spill AI copilot crap in Notepad? Provide pwsh by default as powershell not the old powershell 5 something. Get rid of shitty adds. Provide support for btrfs file system. I can think about more, but those are when I had a few secs thinking
