I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Warren Smith. Warren spent a life in service to the Development of Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. As president of the CDB he was partularly supportive of Jamaica's efforts to reestablish fiscal prudence post 2013.
The passing of Don Wehby is a terrible loss for Jamaica. He was a committed and patriotic Jamaican who made significant contributions, particularly to the entrepreneurial life of our country. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of the esteemed and distinguished attorney-at-law, Valerie Neita Robertson, KC. Valerie was not only a dear friend but also an accomplished lawyer, deeply committed to her country and the mission of nation-building.
She dedicated herself to public service through the PNP, serving as Cllr for the Papine Division & later offering herself for parliamentary representation. Jamaica has lost a true servant of the people, a patriot who devoted her life to justice and the upliftment of others.
His was a life of service to his constituents and to the country as a whole. He was exceptionally loyal and devoted to his country and the People’s National Party. I extend condolences to his widow Venice and his family. May his Soul rest in peace. 🕊️
Harry served the PNP and the country unstintingly for well over 50 years rising through the ranks as an executive member in Central Kingston to Deputy General Secretary and Minister of State in Works and Member of Parliament in SE St Mary the Constituency of his birth.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Vin Edwards. He was truly a one of a kind Jamaican. One of the original Sound system operators, Venerable race horse trainer, MP for St Mary West, Vin was also a sharp-eyed observer and recorder of Jamaican society and politics.
I personally appreciated him most for the warmth of his friendship, the strength of his loyalty, his sincerity, his plain spoken directness and his love of ordinary people.
Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of handing over 10 tablets to students in my constituency, thanks to a generous donation from the Universal Service Fund. It was great to see the students and their parents as we took another step toward supporting their educational journey.
The passing of Sir Shridath "Sonny" Ramphal signals the end of end of the opening phase of modern Caribbean Nationhood. He was a champion of Guyana's Independence; an indefatigable advocate of Caribbean regionalism and a proponent of justice for the Global South.
