Strengthening Fiscal Reform Partnerships 🤝
Earlier today, our CEO, Tayo Aduloju, led a delegation from the #NESG, alongside the Executive Director of the Policy Innovation Centre (PIC), Dr Osasuyi Dirisu and the Chief Economist and Director of Research and Development at the NESG, Dr Olusegun Omisakin, on a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Mr Taiwo Oyedele.
The visit provided an opportunity to congratulate the Honourable Minister on his appointment and reaffirm NESG’s commitment to supporting the Ministry’s fiscal policy agenda, particularly ongoing efforts around tax reforms and revenue mobilisation.
In response, the Honourable Minister welcomed the engagement and reiterated the Government’s commitment to evidence-based policymaking and strategic partnerships.
At the NESG, we believe that strong collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential to driving sustainable fiscal reforms and unlocking inclusive economic growth.

The Federal Government’s National Laureate Prize is one of the more serious ideas to come out of the education space in a while. I am impressed genuinely.
This is not because of the money, although ₦5 million, ₦10 million, and ₦20 million will get attention. But because of what the policy is trying to do underneath. For a very long time, Nigeria has treated academic work as a requirement to complete, not a resource to use. Thousands of dissertations are written every year, bound, submitted, and forgotten. This initiative tries to interrupt that cycle by reframing the thesis as something else: a potential input into national development.
When the Minister says we should not celebrate influencers at the expense of innovators, he is not just making a passing comment. He is trying to rebalance what society chooses to reward. Incentives shape behaviour and truly, behaviour shapes systems.
But recognising research is not the same as using it. The harder question is what happens after the award. Does the winning work get translated into policy? Commercialised? Without that second step, this risks becoming a well-branded awards system rather than a pipeline for anything.
Nigeria does not lack research. It lacks systems that connect knowledge to action.
The idea is sound. The execution will determine everything.
Well done!
Strengthening Subnational Reform & MSME Growth 🇳🇬
Yesterday, a delegation led by our CEO, Dr Tayo Aduloju, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, to explore strategic areas of collaboration focused on deepening business environment reforms and accelerating private sector growth across Nigeria.
The engagement spotlighted the importance of strong stakeholder alignment, data-driven reform tracking, and sustained institutional collaboration in delivering measurable improvements to Nigeria’s business climate.
Both organisations reaffirmed their shared commitment to improving the ease of doing business, supporting business growth, and driving impactful reform delivery at both the federal and subnational levels to unlock sustainable, private-sector-led economic growth.

Meeting with NESG Leadership
I met with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group @officialNESG, led by Dr. Tayo Aduloju, for a productive discussion on strengthening Nigeria’s strategic communication, economic diplomacy, and international engagement.
We discussed the need for coordinated outreach to global think tanks and policy institutions to counter misleading narratives about Nigeria and ensure that our national story is presented with accuracy and context.
NESG also expressed readiness to support the West African Economic Summit @waesummit_, particularly in helping to strengthen its design, sustainability, and long-term relevance as a regional economic platform.
Our conversation further explored opportunities to deepen collaboration on trade policy, investment, and critical minerals, ensuring that Nigeria’s economic diplomacy continues to reflect clarity, confidence, and national interest.
I appreciate the NESG team for their insights and their willingness to partner with @NigeriaMFA in advancing Nigeria’s global engagement.

NYSC REFORM SURVEY OVERVIEW
The Federal Government of Nigeria constituted a Committee to undertake comprehensive reforms of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The objective of this reform is to review and strengthen the NYSC programme to make it more effective, impactful, and beneficial to corps members and the nation at large.
This initiative recognises that while the NYSC remains a vital symbol of national unity, it must also evolve into a strategic national workforce pipeline and a robust skills empowerment platform that equips young Nigerians with the capabilities required to drive innovation, productivity, and sustainable national development.
To ensure inclusiveness and broad stakeholder engagement, the Committee is conducting this survey to gather honest opinions and constructive ideas on how the scheme can better serve Nigeria’s development goals and the aspirations of its youth.
