Police in Ontario were given extraordinary powers. Police were swift, clear and consistent in denouncing those powers indicating they would not enforce them. In large part due to that response, those powers were rescinded. Let that sink in.
Public safety is always our focus. In regards to the new provincial regulations, we will continue to engage our community, educate when appropriate & enforce when necessary. At this time, this does not include randomly stopping vehicles in order to enforce the stay-at-home orders
We all need to do our part to stop the spread of Covid but giving police new powers and putting our members in the no-win position of trying to enforce them is not the way to keep our communities safe @PoliceAssocON@fordnation@SylviaJonesMPP
