Today, I welcomed participants to the Maiden Security Summit, themed “Security: A Collective Responsibility”, at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba. The summit aligns with the fourth pillar of our MORE Agenda, Enhanced Peace and Security which underscores our commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for all Deltans. In my keynote address, I emphasised that sustainable development can only thrive in a secure environment and urged participants to identify and address gaps in communication, trust and cooperation that are often exploited by criminal elements.
I reaffirmed my administration’s commitment to providing the leadership, resources and support needed to strengthen our security architecture and enhance the effectiveness of our security agencies. I also commended the Armed Forces, Police, intelligence agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, women’s groups and youth organisations for their invaluable contributions to maintaining peace and security. Reiterating Delta State’s condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, I expressed confidence that the summit’s deliberations would produce practical solutions that would further advance the peace and security objectives of our MORE Agenda.
