“FanDuel has undergone its third round of layoffs in less than a year"
companies that keep doing multiple tranches of layoffs in a short period of time need to evaluate leadership just as much as they evaluate headcount
layoffs suck, but drip-feeding constant fear leaves companies paralyzed
I’ve spoken with ~10 people impacted by layoffs over the past year and they all said the same thing: the constant feeling of ‘am I next?’ has killed their team's morale and makes it difficult to focus on actually doing their job
Sorsby gambled on games in which his team was involved in.
There should be consequences to this. Significant ones.
But these local judges either get paid off, take care of their buddies or are fan boys.
Players shouldn’t wager on their teams to win for many reasons
Players might do unnatural things trying to win a game with a large wager on it. They might try to injure an opponent.
Down big after a few upsets? Might owe the wrong people money. Might need to get cash from the wrong people. That’s when fixing games starts.
It seems like a fairly easy rule and logical rule to follow.
Remember when Reggie Bush once had to forfeit the Heisman Trophy for accepting improper benefits from agents (a rent-free home) and USC had to vacate a national title?
I don't think the TL has ever been this united, because:
-The facts aren't in dispute
-The right decision is clear ethically, morally, and legally
-It is also clear that Sorsby's lawyers put up a transparently bad faith argument as an excuse
And the judge sided with him to help a football team
Really let this sink in
I hope every Texas Tech fan/booster/alumni understand what they’re standing for
A complete break down of decency, rule of law, sportsmanship, ethics and everything else
This is a TRAVESTY
And that judge should be disbarred and taken off the bench
Big 12 ADs tell @YahooSports they’ve had “serious” talks on not playing Texas Tech. One SEC AD says there should be conversations about not playing Tech “in any sports.”
The Brendan Sorsby ruling has left an industry jarred.
“It’s total f***** bullshit.”

Instances of active players caught betting on their own team:
Pete Rose (MLB): Banned for life
8 White Sox players (MLB): Banned for life
Jontay Porter (NBA): Banned for life
Tucupita Marcano (MLB): Banned for life
Brendan Sorsby (college football): Suspended for 2 games
Congratulations to @AlexZverev on his very first Grand Slam Singles title!
He is also the first man with Type 1 Diabetes to win a major.
What a victory for everyone living with this disease.
@stoolpresidente Golden knights game is Tuesday. They wouldn’t have a game Sunday then Wednesday in Knicks series in the same city. Also crowd on Monday is probably easier to manage than on weekend.
@jwbritus@seeley_nigel Yeah, it’s like the college football championship. There’s like 10ish teams that can win. Congo, Curacao and Cape Verde aren’t winning. A first time winner will probably happen within the next 3 like a Portugal or Netherlands, but I’d never say up for grabs cause it is mostly
@EVLongshots Cause it’s game 3 or it’s over. Game 3 is always way differently priced in a 2-0 series than if a team is down 3-0. Look at the difference in spreads with Cleveland I think we’re a 3.5 point favorite game 3 then a 2 point dog game 4.
Jalen Brunson is absolutely incredible but I’m happiest for KAT because he achieved the impossible
he forced Shaq and Charles to admit on national TV that he is tough
Karl Anthony Towns has taught me so much about dealing with the loss of my mom 2 years ago. He also donated $5,000 dollars to my moms go fund me when she was battling pancreatic cancer. He is a great human. Me and my family will forever root for this man. So happy for him.
