Alhamdulillah, I have been affirmed as the ADC candidate for the forthcoming general elections, representing the good people of Damaturu, Gujba, Gulani and Tarmuwa Federal Constituency. This brings us one step closer to the victory our great constituency deserve.
I’ve spent the past couple of weeks building Looters: a public archive of Nigerian political corruption since the 1990s.

Alhamdulillah
Following a productive meeting with party stakeholders, the ADC primary nomination for House of Reps (DTR, GJB, GLN & TAR) has been secured, alongside Distinguished Kale Kawu for Yobe East (Zone A). May this step serve the people of Yobe and all Nigerians well.
It always amazes me how muslims always end up right.
First it was how they clean up in the toilet with water, everyone is trying to implement it now.
Next is fasting religiously every year, now everyone preaches intermittent fasting and its benefits.
Next is how they don't eat pork, they call it unclean. And by fact it can affect the brain because of tapeworms.
When we were kids everything they used to do was strange and different from us, now because of education and the Internet we seem to be slowly implementing their way of life.

#NoTaxAct2025#NationalDayOfPresence
Nigerians, we have been victims in our own country for far too long.
No stable electricity. No clean water. No quality education. No security.
None of the basic things a functional state is supposed to provide for its people.
Now, even the little we have left, the little money we struggle to earn, they want the power to take it directly from our bank accounts without notice, without warning, and without due process.
That is why we must all come out on January 12 to boldly, clearly and firmly say #NoTaxAct2025
Rally your friends.
Rally your neighbors.
Rally your relatives.
Go to the nearest designated point in your state.
Do not go with violence.
Do not go with aggression.
Go peacefully.
Go visibly.
Let them see you.
When millions of Nigerians gather on the same day, for one clear purpose, to demand the cancellation of this Tax Act, it sends an unmistakable message.
And even if they refuse to listen, history will record that Nigerians stood up, together, and said no.
This is about dignity.
This is about ownership of our labor.
This is about drawing a line.
January 12.
Be present.
One major discrepancy between the harmonized version of the Tax Law actually passed by lawmakers and the gazetted version is the issue of inheritance tax.
In the harmonized version passed by the National Assembly, inheritance was protected. Income on inherited assets before distribution was excluded from tax, and inheritance itself was never intended to be a taxable issue. This is a major concern for us Muslims.
The inheritance and estate-related tax provisions are contained in the Fifth Schedule of the gazetted Nigeria Tax Act, 2025, specifically on pages 156–159 of the gazetted copy, which set out the taxation of income of estates, trusts, executors, and beneficiaries.
Sections 4(3) and 16 of the gazetted tax law bring income accruing to estates, trusts, executors, and trustees within the tax net. Sections 3(c) and 4(4) also treat income arising to an estate of a deceased person as chargeable to tax.
They avoided the word “inheritance” and used estate and trust provisions to reach the same result. There is no section called “inheritance tax,” but estate income can now be taxed before beneficiaries receive anything. They deliberately avoided a politically sensitive word "inheritance."
What this means is that estate or trust income (inheritance) can now be taxed before beneficiaries receive anything, effectively introducing inheritance-related taxation through the back door!
This is not a drafting error. It is a substantive policy change that does not appear in the harmonized version and was never openly debated or approved by the National Assembly.
The Fifth Schedule, as it appears in the gazetted copy, is effectively a new insertion. It was never in the harmonized version.
I wonder what explanation @taiwoyedele will now give on this major addition!!!
