The month of October is #BlackHistoryMonth.
In honour of this, we'd like to bring your attention to 'The Black Child Down Syndrome Project' which was founded by a collective of four trailblazing mothers of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) children.
‘Black Children with Down syndrome are a minority, within a minority, within a minority and as such their stories and experiences often go unseen and unheard.’ - Danise B. Grant, BCDS Co-Founder.
On 6 October 2025 at 5pm (GMT), as Black History Month and World Down Syndrome Awareness Month begins, the stories of these children and their families will illuminate the Piccadilly Lights, one of the most iconic public platforms in the world. Make sure to check it out if you can!

The #CanadaDisabilityBenefit regulations are finalized. This is an important step, but the work isn’t over.
We know the current benefit won’t meet the needs of many in our community, and we will continue to advocate for a stronger benefit.
