El oro de 🇺🇸 Elana Meyers Taylor en Monobob, a sus 41 años y en sus quintos Juegos Olímpicos, habla de resiliciencia y persistencia de una deportista muy especial.

‘Supermamá’ de dos niños sordos, uno de ellos síndrome de Down, nacidos en 2020 y 2022, y que viajan durante todo el invierno con ella de prueba en prueba por el mundo. Ambos hijos nacieron de forma prematura y ambos tuvieron que pasar un tiempo en la UCI de neonatos en plena carrera deportiva.

Por si fuera poco, durante su carrera, ha sufrido episodios de racismo como cuando un entrenador olímpico de otro país realizó mensajes racistas contra ella en competiciones o cuando señaló que uno de los fabricantes de trineos más rápidos del mundo rehúsa vender a pilotos negros. Al levantar la voz, forzó a la Federación Internacional de Bobsleigh y Skeleton a formar un grupo de trabajo para investigarlo.

Fue la primera mujer en ganar una competición contra hombres, en una prueba nacional de doble bob en 2019 llevando a su marido de frenador.

En 2018, anunció que donará su cerebro a la ciencia para investigar sobre la conmoción cerebral después de dos episodios se gravedad sufridos en 2014.

Cuenta en su palmarés con seis medallas olímpicas, además de cuatro títulos mundiales y seis podios.

Antes de #MilanoCortina2026, la estadounidense señaló que quería dedicar estos Juegos Olímpicos a compartir "esperanza" para otras familias que han pasado por los mismos miedos que la suya, y demostrar que hay "luz al final del túnel".

One of the 3 police officers killed in an ambush while serving a warrant in York, PA this week was a wrestler and a hero!

Sergeant Cody Becker held a 117-35 record at Spring Grove HS (PA) where he graduated in 2004. Becker went on to qualify for the 2007 D1 NCAA Tournament at 149 lbs, representing Millersville University.

Sergeant Becker risked his life in September 2011 to save a mother and her three children from the third story of a burning apartment- which resulted in several Valor Awards. He was known for helping out throughout his community and will be greatly missed.
