After lunch we went to the ISU Horticulture Research Station and learned research being done in turf management, water quality, wildlife habitat, apple production, hoop houses, and grape production.
Yesterday we got to tour the ISU Dairy farm and learn about the care and technology that���s goes into dairy production.Students learned about majors such as animal science, horticulture, ag education, food science, ag business,and global resource system from current ISU students.

This last week we had our first FFA meeting of the year and our first meeting in person since 2019. We celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by eating papusas and talking about the significance of the month.
This last week we had our first FFA meeting of the year and our first meeting in person since 2019. Officers talked to mew members about what FFA can do for them as well as doing a team building game.
Last week we were able to do a virtual tour with all 1st-8th graders at the Science Center of Iowa. Later in the week we went to the Science Center to do an egg lab and a scented geranium lab with the older students.
Day 3 of camp included learning about animal feeds, egg quality, pest management in a greenhouse, and how bumble bees operate.
That’s a lot to pack into a Wednesday!
Day 2 of Ag Camp was full of pig dissections and flower arrangements. Students learned about the internal anatomy of pigs and then learned how to make an arrangement to take home.
Today is the first day of our week long middle school camp. 16 students from across @dmps are coming to learn about plants and animals. Students learned about showing sheep as well as xylem and phloem in plants today.
Congratulations to Bailee Smith on receiving her Iowa FFA Degree! Bailee has been an instrumental part in the chapter’s success. She was the 2019-2020 FFA President and has a strong SAE in goat production. She has been in the program for 3 years and is about to graduate from East
FFA members will be at 4 HyVee stores talking to customers about the pork they raised today. They will be at the Fleur, Southridge, Park Ave, and Euclid locations from 1pm-3pm today.

Students in the Des Moines FFA were challenged to create a digestive system from household items. But with a twist.. a smashed banana mixed with colored water had to make its way through the students digestive system.
