Contentment is an underrated virtue. There is so much power in contentment. Being able to live your life freely without comparing yourself with those who have more and not being envious nor covetous is power.

If you keep comparing yourself with those above you or those who have more, you'll never be satisfied. The problem with that is, you'll keep living life on new targets, of which failure to achieve would drive you to depression.

Jesus said in Luke 12:15(NIV)
Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.

The problem with pinning your happiness on worldly possession is that, you'll always remain thirsty for more. If you put your validation in other people seeing you wealthy, you'll keep going back to them for it. Thirsty!

Jesus told the woman at the well in John 4:13-14(KJV):
Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

The validation you're seeking from outside, you'll find it in Christ. There is a vacuum in life that only Jesus can fill. That is why Jesus said in Matt 11:28-30(NIV):
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

You cannot do this life alone.

If you're rich, it is important to stay humble and honour God with your riches. Do not think others are not working hard enough that is why they barely where they are. Be kind to the poor and extend grace to those beneath you.

In 1Tim 6:17(NKJV), the scripture says:
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

I clocked something..

Rent is always paid for, nobody notices that the DSTV subscription hasn’t gone off since, nobody notices that the kids haven’t stayed home since they started schooling, nobody notices how the cooking gas is always filled when it finishes, notice how there’s always light in the house even with the crazy units, there’s always fuel in gen when there’s no light.

Nobody appreciates the Man SPECIALLY for all these.. it’s seen as “that’s his job”.. he gets no special props for it.

But the moment you ask why there’s no food in the kitchen and/or why the kitchen is dirty..

It becomes “You think it’s easy to cook and clean, appreciate and support her”

Women want appreciation, support and incentives for their roles, while a Man wanting support for his own role is “not Man enough”.

+ When the Man supports her role, “He’s doing it for his family”

When the Woman supports his role, “She’s doing it for HER MAN”(and not for the family)

These are the issues…

Men need to clock so many things and start speaking up more to regulate these narratives… we can’t continue keeping quiet.. na beg I dey beg una.

Used to have female friends tell me about how their Man is amazing but only problem is he doesn’t like going out(taking them out)

A recently Married Woman said her Husband is amazing, provides everything and takes care of her and the kids but only problem she has with him is.. He’s not the ‘outing type’.. doesn’t take her to the beach so they can have fun and all.

And in my head i’m like… Since that’s his only deficiency, will you die if you initiate and plan it ?
If you start taking him to that beach you claim to like and pay for it, will the marriage or relationship end ?
Or you only like and want it at someone else’s expenses ?

Just take him out to that beach a couple of times since YOU LIKE it and he does perfectly well in other areas ffs

The world doesn’t revolve around your needs and wants.

Stop focusing on the few things your partner isn’t getting right and think of the numerous ones they do right.
