Pittsburgh Riverhounds goalkeeper Eric Dick won the MVP award in yesterday’s USL Championship final.
Dick kept a clean sheet for 450 minutes as the Riverhounds didn’t concede a goal in the entire playoffs, and he was emotional after the final.
“Who was I hugging after the game? That’s my mom,” Dick said.
“I’m getting choked up here. They [his parents] are one of the reasons why I do this.”
“My parents have been to all my games in the past five weeks. My journey has brought me to a lot of places and they flew out. I know my sisters are also watching, wherever they are.”
“I just love my parents. They have sacrificed so much for me to do what I do. And to do this with them in the house, I couldn’t dream of anything better and I’m so thankful.”
“The fans? Words can’t describe those guys. It took 18 hours to do this. They’re part of the reason, they’re behind us all year.”
“It speaks to who Pittsburgh is. They go above and beyond for their sports teams, and they’re a part of this family. We do this with them and for them.”
“Hopefully this makes the 18-hour journey a little bit better [laughs].”
The Riverhounds have beaten FC Tulsa in Tulsa in front of almost 10,000 fans and won the Championship for the first time.
What a performance from Dick 🙌🏾
