Fixtures:

Kerry 🆚 Armagh
Predicted Winner: Armagh
Reason: Timing is everything in the GAAs new football format. Had this game been played last week Armagh would 100% be going into the game as worthy favs. But as it is, Armagh are coming into this game off the back of a defeat and Kerry have bought another week to get a few lads closer to full fitness including seanie O Shea who’s named on the bench. Home advantage is another massive pull to Kerry and they don’t lose too often down there. But if Kerry are going to be stoped this year, then it’s going to happen this Saturday. I predicted last week Armagh were ripe for a turn over and unfortunately for me and the rest of Ireland it came in the non KO stage. I think they are very very dangerous now and will go down there relishing the underdog tag and they will feel confident they can complete the ambush. It’s a very close game and it’s hard to call. Kerry are almost back to full strength but Tom o Sullivan, Shane Ryan and seanie o shea are three massive cogs in their wheel and still not named to start. Tbh I struggled to call this one because if Kerry click (like they did from the QF on last year) then it doesn’t matter who they are playing but Armagh might have just got them at the right time just before they go into overdrive and seanie is back full fit. Geezer and Armagh need to mix it up a bit but I think last weeks defeat will have shown them that. Also btw, It’s in every remaining counties interest to see Armagh win here because it’s over for everyone it Kerry get past this hurdle and game time into seanie before the QF stage. I’m giving a reluctant vote of confidence to Armagh here and from a punting POV the play for the acca is Armagh +3 at evens.

Fixture: Mayo 🆚 Meath
Predicted winner : Draw
Reason : I’ve ripped this game apart to try and get an angle on it but there just isn’t one. I listened to the Ah Ref podcast and the we are Meath podcast with David Rispin to try and get an opinion from both sides but nobody knows for sure. Two teams who need a win badly here to justify progression and try to build on it. You’ll get a good bang for your buck backing a draw here, I’d be very shocked if you didn’t have a sweat with 5 minutes to go. From a punting POV for me il be backing Meath +2 in the acca and small stakes on the draw single.

Fixture: Down 🆚 Fermanagh
Predicted Winner: Down
Reason : I’ve said for some time now that Down are by a distance the best team in this comp and if they come at it with the right mind set they won’t be beat. Fermanagh are a decent outfit at this level but no need to overthink it. Down win.

Fixture: Offaly 🆚 Wicklow
Predicted Winner: Offaly
Reason : Offaly seen off a good Wexford team last day out in tricky conditions. They are further along their road than Wicklow and will see only winning the Tailteann as progression. Again, as long as they don’t take their eyes off the prize here and look too far ahead, they should have too much for Wicklow. Offaly win with a bit to spare.
