Yay, the buoyancy physics approach works for the big stuff as well as the little stuff! It's totally unfinished but this ship is pretty big on the aft section (just not visualised).

Refining the movable whirlpool feature. Once again, pretty pleased with this evenings #indiegamedev efforts. I think #godotengine is starting to sink in and made this pretty comfortably (mostly shader work tbh).

An attempt at a half decent water shader. Uses vertex deformation for waves (really!? ๐), a whirlpool and up to 16 ripple sources (for things floating). Chatgpt prompt as a starter, but refactored over 80% of the shader code (good learning though). #godotengine#indiegamedev

@NemoKrad Ha! Very good. I was amazed how close chatgpt got to a working shader with all the features added to it. Biggest issue was the loss of feature function as the generative ai iterated, deviated and lost the plot. So I ended up rehashing most of it (vertex func reworked the least)
Why the water?
Well there are some vast rooms in these dungeons that will be navigable by vessels of various forms the exhibit both safety and danger (...aka "boss" type entities).

It's been a while since I've posted some progress on this #godotengine game. But I'm feeling pretty stoked right now with it! Procedurally generated, this underground dungeon area quite literally 'Rocks'!

That #indiegamedev feeling when you have just spent 2 weeks on perf refactoring. Honing your "work of art" code to strip out, multi-task and process the bare essentials. You run it and see it RUNNING SLOWER! Your 60fps "mostly" masterpiece now barely hitting 30 fps! ๐ก๐๐ญ
