For those of you who can't sleep -- who have cried over this, panicked over it, or are generally feeling traumatized by what's happening in this country, remember:
Abolitionists had no reason to believe they could bring down a system so powerful and wealthy as slavery.
Women suffragists had no believe to think they could overthrow the systemic misogyny that prevailed in this country.
Civil rights workers had no reason to believe they could break the back of segregation.
Their victory didn't happen in a day. It took perseverance and struggle. But they did not give up.
They prevailed, and so will we.
