Later, we’ll talk about the people who said Zubimendi wasn’t good enough. Because some of you clearly forgot just how much this guy did for us in our title-winning season.
He was always available, Arteta literally used him like a bar of soap. He kept starting game after game until the fatigue and tired legs eventually started catching up with him. He was creating chances, scoring crucial goals for us, controlling games and offering so much in midfield. It was only when the fatigue really started to hit that we began seeing him panic on the ball and make mistakes he wasn’t making earlier in the season. And you can’t really blame him. It was his first season at Arsenal and his first experience of a Premier League title race.
Zubimendi is genuinely one of the most underrated players at Arsenal. He quietly does so much on the pitch, and I think people forget just how good he was before the fatigue caught up with him.
