We need to face some harsh facts regarding the Raiders, Derek Carr, and Josh Jacobs. No. 8 is healthy, but the O-line's run blocking just hasn't been up to par. However, there's more to this than just "the O-line sucks or Jacobs sucks." No, rather, teams don't fear Josh McDaniels' passing attack—enter Derek Carr.
Jacobs deserves his share of criticism for averaging under 3 yards per carry. Still, what's he supposed to do when defenses aren't respecting Jimmy G's abilities to push the ball downfield?
Carr, for all the hate he gets on X, was one of just six NFL QB's to throw passes beyond 20 yards in '22. If a team knows you're not going deep, they'll stack the box. That's hindering the ability to open things up for Jacobs. In fact, it could affect everyone on offense, from Hunter Renfrow to the tight ends.
